SWAMP THING Live-Action Series Announced For DC Universe Streaming Service; James Wan On Board As EP
Just moments ago, Warner Bros. announced the name of its new DC streaming service, & now we're hearing that there's a live-action Swamp Thing series in the works! Find out some more details after the jump.
Right on the heels of the news that Warner Bros.' new DC streaming service will officially be known as DC Universe, it's been announced that a new live-action Swamp Thing series will feature on it.
Swamp Thing is being developed as a one-hour show, and has Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica) and Gary Dauberman (It) on board to write the pilot. They'll also executive produce alongside Michael Clear and Aquaman director James Wan.
DC has also provided us with an official logline, and it certainly sounds like the show is sticking closely to Len Wein's original premise:
"When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all."
Below, you'll find the official logo as well as a Tweet from Wan confirming the news.
