nono it's terrible its just a bunch of photoshop cut and pasting, and look how crowded the composition is, awful awful I see no golden proportion utilized and the vaginal comedian imagery is so 1980's, from when I studied art I got the expertise to know this is garbage, so sad.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 2/5/2009, 1:07 PM
Dude its supposed to be 1980s..thats when watchmen is set! ...and what exactly is "vaginal imagery"?
IonParallax
IonParallax - 2/5/2009, 2:21 PM
I would have to assume The Comedian is representing the Vag in his standpoint. With the other 4 representing the legs and him being directly where the muff would be if it were a spread eagle shot. That's the only possible thing I can come up with.

On another note, I think this movie is going to be phenomenal (I don't know how may times I've said that now) regardless of the crappy posters they put out. I personally, like the single character posters, but I think this one is better than the last group shot. Although I do think they need to nix the "From the visionary director of 300" line in the middle of the poster. I think it takes away from the overall feel and mood of things. Not bad though, I wouldn't buy it, but not bad.

xaosjerk - 2/5/2009, 2:42 PM
I was actually satirizing the guy who turned up his nose at the last watchmen poster, I think it looks pretty cool, I like the giant doc head, presumably he's lying on his stomach and doing a yoga stretch, and yes comedian would be the vag the other four the legs and doc's head well that'd be the head, In which case maybe it's phallic though I think when doc reformed his molecules he gave himself more of a pornstar glowing unit as opposed to the teensy comedian cigar.

Also yeah the visionary director of 300 thing is kinda starting to get to me, it kind of shouts ,"No one knows who Zack Snyder is yet!" of course after this movie for his next film they'll just say, "Directed by Zack Snyder(period)" and people will be like ,"Oh dude that's gonna be awesome I bet, definitely gonna check that."

CRUSH - 2/5/2009, 3:56 PM
they are actully sitting on doc's lap

i'm in love with Malin Akerman.... off topic, i got the series 1 action figures today and they are excelent. nothing wrong with nite owl's neck and even though rorschach and silk spectre have limited articulation, they have incredible asthetic value. roschach can stant on his own fine, nothing wrong with his grappling gun hand and even though silk spectre's face scult is nothing like akerman herself, the body sculpt looks amazing. just thought i would say that.

It looks ok... I think the movie would be much better overall if Dr Manhattan was played by Johnny Depp though. Because he is the only actor ever allowed to play anything and it not suck.

This movie is going to be AMAZING!

I was waiting for this movie since I heard they were making it. Total fan of the graphic Novel...and I want to see this at the IMAX badly.

Unlike that crappy movie 300..this up there...novels very depressing and dark atmosphere...which is why that smashing pumpkin song was PERFECT for the trailers.
Killian
Killian - 2/6/2009, 6:24 AM
/agree with aiiwolf about pumpkins song

MarkCassidy - 2/6/2009, 7:31 AM
What was wrong with 300? did exactly what it said on the tin!
Shaman
Shaman - 2/6/2009, 8:00 AM
There wasn't anything wrong with 300. It was a great "fantasy", not historical, motion picture. People went nutts just because Frank Miller based his fantasy on a historical fact. Boo Hoo.

The only character with super powers is Dr Manhatten(the blue guy) the rest are just hard bastards with Batman level fighting skills
ElBeaster
ElBeaster - 2/6/2009, 2:24 PM
300 is my favorite movie and I'm not freaking out on Aiiwolf because he stated his opinion and wasn't a dick about it. Someone on this site could learn from that(hint hint).

Yea's, we are the Internet hodgepodge of Uber comic nerds. All with our own specialty. Most of which I have yet to figure out. It's quite enthralling and entertaining.

Everyone here has superpowers and we're not afraid to use them. Hehe. So yea, like CRUSH said, soak it up mattlask. This could be your only chance to be deified in the annals of comic dorkdom. BUT, even though we may be viewed as SUPER NERDS, we're not nerds at all. We are like the Justice League of Comics. Bringing right to idiocy and ignorance. Letting all the little guys of the world in on the intricate secrets of the comics universe. Everything from Marvel, DC, Vertigo, Manga, Indies, Graphic Novels and beyond.

A varitable PANTHEON of knowledge, attitude and opinion. A plethora of...OK I've taken that too far.
Anyway yea, we're all comic dorks with vast knowledge but somehow, we've never traversed into the world of nerd-dom. We're still actually cool people who don't wear pocket protectors (I hope) and retainers and what not. If you do, keep it to yourself, we have an image to uphold. hahahaha

Watchmen less than 1 month away mmm- Watchmen
Hyson
Hyson - 2/7/2009, 12:45 PM
This is what I see:

Nite Owl screwing Laurie
Ozymandias screwing Rorschach
Comedian's hands on Ozy's and Nite Owl's arses

DR. MANHATTAN F**KING EVERYONE IN THE ARSE...
... with calamari residue on his lips....

This movie looks so bad. Go go Black Freighter. Carry the weight of the whole movie because at least you will be accurate from the "visionary" (what a crock of...Dragonball Evolution) director.

Edit: Anyone find it a little... goofy that this is on Marvel Maniacs?

Haha. No CRUSH, I am not. I have to keep the dichotomy of the name I already have. But nice idea because well, in my spare time I actually do write poetry. Wow, comic book geek who writes poetry? Is there something innately wron with that or is that just another form of my dichotomy? Ah well, I dig it. NO, just to answer the brewing question, I do not write poetry about comic books. Haha. Yes, Hyson is somewhat of a negative nancy on a regular basis. Too much sand in the vagina, as usual. >=)
ElBeaster
ElBeaster - 2/7/2009, 5:27 PM
Ya, Hyson we get it, you hate Watchmen because it doesn't have the squid. You don't have to include that in every one of your posts. Even when the post isn't about Watchmen you include the squid somehow. Just give it up. I respect your opinion on it, but I don't want to see it posted everywhere.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 2/8/2009, 2:15 PM
I have to say though..hysons squid fetish does make me chuckle.

As for the visionary thing, look i dont like how its used on the posters either but Snyder was the first director to utilize the chroma key super imposition technique on a movie so technically the guy is/ was "visionary"..like it or lump it, thems the facts jack!
xaosjerk
xaosjerk - 2/8/2009, 4:21 PM
rorschach01 weren't there several other movies that used it first? skycaptian, superman returns, king kong?
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 2/9/2009, 11:31 AM
no, those movies used either cgi with bluescreen or else digital animatics or motion capture..im not exactly sure what the difference is! but there you go
NoobMike
NoobMike - 2/9/2009, 6:11 PM
