How to Train Your Dragon has spawned a mega-franchise that stretches across many mediums. There are popular movies, an entire best-selling book collection, graphic novels in the double digits from Titan and Dark Horse comics, and even an animated series.

The latter is called Dragons: 9 Realms, which streams on both Hulu and Peacock. Season 3 of the show dropped this month, spinning the characters through an entirely new setting: the Fire Realm.

Since we had the pleasure of chatting with Alex's voice actress Aimee Garcia (Lucifer, Dexter) in support of Season 2, we decided to catch up with her about the newest chapter and what the future may hold for the series. In addition, she went into detail about her character's arc and how she hopes to see it moving forward.

You can hear our exclusive chat with Aimee Garcia below, followed by this portion of the transcript, which has been edited for clarity.

Aimee Garcia: We have an amazing new character that I'm a huge fan of, Jun's older brother, played by Vincent Tong, who is just hysterical. I'm such a fan. And we are having these teenagers go into the most dangerous realm of all, which is the Fire Realm, because not only do they have to confront all sorts of dragons, but just getting into the realm and staying alive is hard enough.

So Alex, my character, comes up with fire suits for her friends, and she builds them from scratch, and so she literally makes all of them fireproof, but not without a couple of tests. You know, you have to test prototypes. I'm really proud that our little Alex, who prefers computers and gadgets to humans, comes up with this fire suit, with a little help from the dragons, so they could descend into Season 3's Fire Realm.

In a potential Season 4, I would love to see her continuing to come out of her shell. I think that she's come a long way from not having any friends and being super scared of her own shadow to coming in and saving the day with Feathers' sonic scream with her eyes closed. It's like riding the roller coaster, kicking and screaming, and you didn't open your eyes, but you went on the roller coaster. So I would like to see her continue to spread her wings.

I'd love to see her really let her guard down and open up and find a true vulnerability in just letting people in. She's still snarky; as soon as they confront some big bad dragons, she's like, well, it's been nice knowing you. (Laughs) She's like, it's doomsday. It would be nice to see her grow into somewhat of an optimistic we're not gonna die and also open up about caring about her friends because she hasn't really done that. She hasn't really admitted how she feels about them, so it would be really cool not to cover up how she feels with sarcasm.

Love this actress. Aimee is so great, she is like a grownup Dora the Explorer.
