In the final episodes of
Cloak and Dagger's first season, Tyrone donned a comic-accurate cloak to allow him to control his teleportation powers. However, it was ripped to shreds in the finale by police officers affected by the 'terror' gas. Luckily, Tandy stepped in to provide Tyrone with his original black hoodie that she had been holding onto for the past 10 years.
But losing his iconic cloak was a huge loss for Tyrone because it belonged to his late brother. Speaking with
Newsweek, showrunner Joe Pokaski explained how this connection with the cloak affected Tyrone's powers. Pokaski then revealed that we will be sticking with the black hoodie, albeit with perhaps a few adjustments, for a while before Tyrone wears a new iteration of the cloak.
The hoodie will stick around for a while, but we will be exploring a new iteration of the cloak as well as evolving Tandy’s costume a little bit. It’s always my impulse to stay toward natural clothes you'd see in the real world, but the thing I love that the writers worked out, was whatever the cloak is, is just a piece of cloth. The important thing about it is that it’s a connection to his brother. That's why it takes him different places and it does certain things. He lost a brother who would be a guiding force and this cloak ties to his subconscious in a way that treats him the way a brother would.
Additionally, we now have an idea of when the second season of the show will debut. A new poster that once again emphasizes the role that Mayhem will play reveals that season two will arrive in spring of 2019, a little earlier than the first season comparatively aired this year:
