Production is now underway on Marvel Studios' Ironheart in Atlanta, Georgia, but we're still finding out about new additions to the cast. Following the recent announcement that RuPaul's Drag Race alum Shea Couleé has boarded the project, Deadline reports that Zoe Terakes has also joined the ensemble.
Terakes, a transgender and non-binary actor who uses the they/them pronouns, is best known for their appearances in Nine Perfect Strangers and Wentworth. As per usual, no details on their character were provided, but they are said to have a "key role" in the Disney+ series.
Manny Montana (Mayans M.C.) and Solo: A Star Wars Story actor Alden Ehrenreich are also set for significant roles in the show, and there's some speculation that one of them could play the son of Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger, Ezekiel “Zeke” Stane. That remains to be seen, but the character is expected to feature.
The first photos from the set were recently shared online, giving us a look at Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) in her prototype armor, along with costar Anthony Ramos, who appears to be playing a powerful villain known as The Hood.
Sam Bailey (Brown Girls) and Angely Barnes (Mythic Quest) were recently announced as directors, and have reportedly been enlisted to helm at least one episode a piece. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler will executive produce via his Proximity production company.
We still don't know a whole lot about Ironheart, but the series is expected to stick pretty closely to Riri's comic book origin as "the creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man." There's also been some speculation that the character could be ret-conned as a Wakandan since she'll also appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
No premiere date has been announced.
