SECRET INVASION Premiere Ends With A Shocking Moment None Of Us Saw Coming - SPOILERS

The first episode of Secret Invasion landed on Disney+ earlier today, and in the closing few moments, Marvel Studios delivers a twist we definitely didn't see coming. Find out exactly what happens here...

In today's Secret Invasion premiere, we learn the Skrulls - who were promised a home by Nick Fury and Captain Marvel but never actually received one - are hellbent on making Earth their own.

That could eventually lead to humanity's extinction and it seems like only Nick, Maria Hill, and Talos currently stand in Gravik's way. Talos' daughter, G'iah, appears to have a change of heart upon learning of her leader's plans and helps the three heroes stop a bombing which could result in a war between America and Russia.

Alas, Gravik manages to outsmart the former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director and, as the bombs go off, he taunts Nick by changing into various people we've seen the one-eyed badass encounter throughout the episode.

Fury eventually calls out to Maria...and guns her down.

It was Gravik, and as he makes his escape, Maria dies in Nick's arms after saying, "It was you." Tragically, it appears as if she dies believing one of her closest friends and allies killed her, and before you start theorising that she's a Skrull, the final shot establishes that can't be the case.

Unlike another character in "Resurrection," Maria doesn't revert to her alien form at the moment of death meaning this is indeed the real deal. And she's dead!

Marvel Studios first brought Cobie Smulders into the fold as Maria Hill in 2012's The Avengers. Despite being one of Fury's biggest detractors and an antagonist to Earth's Mightiest Heroes (she tried to arrest Captain America and forcibly unmasked Spider-Man) on the page, her MCU counterpart has largely been a supporting player.

Many of you likely hoped to see her take on a much larger role in Secret Invasion, but unfortunately, her time as part of this shared world has reached its end.

How do you feel about Maria's shocking death in the Secret Invasion premiere?

They should be grateful Kyle Bradstreet is involved, Mr Robot is next level

@bobevanz - 27 minutes in and there's only one joke so far, about potato chips. Then again his best episodes of Mr Robot barely have any humor. I full believe in this show, but I still wish Phase 5 was all about the secret invasion and only such. Oh well

@bobevanz - Hey :)

Not watched Mr.Robot, is it worth watching?

Overall I enjoyed this first episode of Secret Invasion and am looking forward to the next episode.

First episode was okay but it’s giving a more Falcon and TWS vibe than TWS. The villains are literally Skrull versions of the Flag Smashers.

@PlusUltra - Yeah was thinking this as soon as the first scene ended, hopefully it's still good even if the plots are similar but if that similarity is there then it's a shame Marvel are already recycling narrative themes within the space of like a year

@LukeCage2155 - Agreed, It's was a solid first episode. I've been looking forward to this series and hoping it would be good. The choice of an espionage / drama for this series using mainly un-powered agents seems to be a well thought out strategy to keep the series more grounded than the likes of Moon Knight or Wandavision. Although this strategy is vastly different to the comic's, we do know war Machine is in the mix, wonder if the will be any other cameo's. I could see someone like Bucky or Yelena turning up, but at the moment its more about wishful thinking rather than necessary.

Remember when Marvel started going downhill and morons defended them ? And now it's because of those morons defending them they're totally lost the plot. It'll be very hard to recover from here on out. Marvel should have gotten constructive criticism back then instead fanboys kept swallowing like no tomorrow and maybe they could have corrected ship when you could still salvage the ship.I genuinely don't think the ship is salvagable anymore. We're just watching a nostalgia corpse withering away slowly.

This series gives me Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Homeland, The Americans, Cold War-era espionage Noir, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and John Carpenter's The Thing vibes. Gravik wants all the smoke and his brutal villain. What he did to Maria Hill was cold-blooded.

BOOORINNG!
LOL!

Can't believe that was the weak ass shit they put out.
After all this hyping it up as some kind of Andor.
What a piece of shit.

Looked like Andor: NCIS.
LOL

SO BAD!!!!

Decent first episode. I'm glad they got rid of Maria Hill. What a nothing character. I bet she is relieved to get rid of Marvel for good.
TempleRod
TempleRod - 6/21/2023, 5:29 AM
@quas95 - Only good thing about the episode is to see her die.

She's always been a cow.
But knowing Marvel, they are going to play some gotcha game later on and turns out she's not dead.
And instead just a big Live Cow.

What is it with Marvel and casting unattractive women?

Marvel again.
Overhype, Yet Underdeliver.

Disney+ has been the death of MCU. So many trash seasons added onto canon.
What a joke.

Also Trash Tier writing, which has become the most problem since Endgame. Half the show was exposition. And the half that wasn't was just total cringe. Embarrassing for these actors.
They all deserve more than this.

@PlusUltra - Oh "Doing Too Much"
That's humorous.

After three whole weeks here of people trashing The Flash, Day in Day Out,
24 Hours a Day.

Suddenly, Now, Pointing out how bad a Marvel production legitimately is.
Suddenly that's 'Doing Too Much'.

LOL

Because it IS very bad.

TempleRod

@PlusUltra - Maybe I am simply calling out the hypocrisy.

Because I watched the full show, and really, if this was supposed to be some kind of D+ flag posted for 'serious content'.
Disney needs to get Feige in check, because this first episode is embarrassing.
It's like Cable TV crime drama level.
Andor is an actually great Disney+ show. Secret Invasion is no Andor. LOL
