Jennifer Walters didn't ask to be a superhero. She didn't ask for powers. She didn't ask to be 6'7' or muscle. All she wants is to be a good lawyer, hang with her friends, and maybe find a decent fella.... but to paraphrase her famous crime fighting cousin, "We don't every time get what we want.".
After having her blood infected with the gamma radiated blood of her Primo, Bruce Banner, Jennifer Walters finds herself imbued with his strength, stamina, and olive green-skin. It's far from ideal but she does her best to make the most of it, and Bruce is eager to help his newfound hulking partner to master her new abilities.
Thanks to USA Today's Twitter account, we now have our first clip from the much anticipated fourth wall breaking action comedy, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
The clip is just 30 seconds cut together from what is likely a much longer sequence of Bruce and Jennifer putting her new powers through their paces. Jen seems to excel at everything they do (To Bruce's slight consternation) despite wanting nothing to do with these powers in the first place!
After a bit of light gloating about how easy it all is, Bruce playfully pushes his cousin off a cliff while calling her a "punk". Thankfully, Jen leaps right back up to the top none the worse for wear.
She questions Bruce about when she would even need these powers as a Lawyer, to which he responds that the mere existence of her abilites paints a target on the backs of her and everyone she cares about. The line mirrors that of Vision in Captain America: Civil War, when he muses that "Our very strength invites challenge".
Realizing that the lessons he is imbuing upon his cousin-slash-protege are coming off as a bit of a downer, Bruce changes tactics and tries to lighten the mood. Telling his cousin that their immense size grants them a heightened metabolism, he reveals to Jenn that they can drink an insane amount of alcohol with nary a single repercussion. "All buzz, no barf." he tells her, and that certainly seems to lift her spirits.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premieres on Disney+ on August 17 and stars Tatiana Maslany as the titular heroine, along with returning MCU veterans Mark Ruffalo, Benedict Wong, Tim Roth, Charlie Cox, and newcomers Jameela Jamil, Josh Segarra, Ginger Gonzaga, & Griffin Matthews.
