New SHE-HULK Clip Sees Jennifer Walters Spending Some Quality Time With Her Cousin

With just a little over 2 weeks until the premiere of the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, we've been gifted a brief clip showing the Jade Giantess exploring her new abilities with her cousin, Bruce.

Jennifer Walters didn't ask to be a superhero. She didn't ask for powers. She didn't ask to be 6'7' or muscle. All she wants is to be a good lawyer, hang with her friends, and maybe find a decent fella.... but to paraphrase her famous crime fighting cousin, "We don't every time get what we want.".

After having her blood infected with the gamma radiated blood of her Primo, Bruce Banner, Jennifer Walters finds herself imbued with his strength, stamina, and olive green-skin. It's far from ideal but she does her best to make the most of it, and Bruce is eager to help his newfound hulking partner to master her new abilities.

Thanks to USA Today's Twitter account, we now have our first clip from the much anticipated fourth wall breaking action comedy, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

The clip is just 30 seconds cut together from what is likely a much longer sequence of Bruce and Jennifer putting her new powers through their paces. Jen seems to excel at everything they do (To Bruce's slight consternation) despite wanting nothing to do with these powers in the first place!

After a bit of light gloating about how easy it all is, Bruce playfully pushes his cousin off a cliff while calling her a "punk". Thankfully, Jen leaps right back up to the top none the worse for wear.

She questions Bruce about when she would even need these powers as a Lawyer, to which he responds that the mere existence of her abilites paints a target on the backs of her and everyone she cares about. The line mirrors that of Vision in Captain America: Civil War, when he muses that "Our very strength invites challenge".

Realizing that the lessons he is imbuing upon his cousin-slash-protege are coming off as a bit of a downer, Bruce changes tactics and tries to lighten the mood. Telling his cousin that their immense size grants them a heightened metabolism, he reveals to Jenn that they can drink an insane amount of alcohol with nary a single repercussion. "All buzz, no barf." he tells her, and that certainly seems to lift her spirits.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premieres on Disney+ on August 17 and stars Tatiana Maslany as the titular heroine, along with returning MCU veterans Mark Ruffalo, Benedict Wong, Tim Roth, Charlie Cox, and newcomers Jameela Jamil, Josh Segarra, Ginger Gonzaga, & Griffin Matthews.

They really turned Hulk into a goof, can we at least get a few more years of savage Hulk before Disney turned him into Sully from Monster Inc.

@BrotherQStark - they did the same with thor

@BrotherQStark - We really only got 2 and half Savage Hulk movies. TIH, Avengers, and part of AOU. Won't count the "education" he got from Thanos in Infinity War. He really hasn't been that Savage for long, and TIH and AOU were the only times I considered him to be savage. AOU was courtesy of Wanda too. I don't mind him being smart as long as it goes somewhere. I'd love to see the Maestro, even if it's just a variant. Actually I'd prefer that. Something Kang could throw at The Avengers to keep them preoccupied.

@The1st - I wanna see Maestro so bad. And having him travel back in time and the Avengers thinking he’s come back to aid or wane the team of Kang would also be a nice call back to how IW Hulk warmed the team of Thanos coming. But the twist being that instead of coming back to help, he’s there to harm them.

@GhostDog - Yes, exactly. It's a twist I'd definitely wanna see instead of this trend of making anti-heroes out of villains, cough...Sony. It would also be nice because Tony's their Batman, the contingency guy. I don't think they'd have anything to immediately throw at an intelligent malevolent Hulk currently.

Man what the f*ck happened to the Hulk...to Bruce...

We sure he's the "Smart" version?

@OldMan - I'm holding out hope that this is a calm before the storm. That something so horrible is going to happen to Bruce, to the point that it gives us the most destructive Hulk we've ever had.

@Fares - Me too, can't believe this is the last Hulk version we'll see in the MCU.

Pretty much as it happened in comics many many many many times.

@Fogs - I've got to think we'll see a Wolverine vs Hulk fight at some point. How could they NOT do that. And when that happens, it's gotta be a savage version of Hulk. Not this comedy nonsense.

@CorndogBurglar - yeap. He's probably losing the control big time in the future.

It was fun seeing professor hulk in Endgame but it’s time to get back to the great versions of Hulk in TIH, Avengers, and Age of Ultron. It still feels like Bruce buried the hulk identity and that relationship was never resolved. That should lead to World War Hulk and back to the powerhouse, unstoppable monster he should be.

@MrDandy - it would be interesting if the savage Hulk personality suddenly just bursts out and goes ape-shit. Doubt it'll happen though.

What's the point of having Mark Ruffalo when you don't use him?

Can't wait for all the ''they made Hulk a joke'' and ''they really made She-Hulk better at everything than Hulk'' comments. Makes me like new Hulk and She-Hulk even more than I already do.

Anyway, I think the CGI in this clip looks pretty solid. Sure it ain't photorealistic, but it looks amazing nonetheless. Think the right lighting helps a ton.

@bkmeijer1 - it is really bizarre that that is the takeaway for some. hulk has been moving into nonviolent territory since age of ultron, and she hulk is on the rise, so this all flows from a storytelling standpoint. feels like the fragile male ego hinders peoples ability to enjoy a lot of stuff

MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 8/1/2022, 11:58 AM
@Origame - well the hulk himself is a gary stu because the angrier he gets the more powerful he is. No one can beat him
Origame
Origame - 8/1/2022, 12:06 PM
@MyCoolYoung - this is what most don't seem to understand. Mary Sue and Gary stu aren't defined purely by being powerful. They're defined by having no real struggle to overcome. In the case of hulk, yes he's more powerful than most of his opponents, but his story focuses on the struggles of controlling his powers in order to function in society. That's why smart hulk was a big deal. Normally he'd need to lose control to gain power, now he doesn't. And that was an arc that took over 10 years to fully master.

Jennifer, meanwhile, only just got her powers and is capable of doing everything Bruce can do but better and never seems to struggle with control.

That's how she hulk is a Mary Sue and hulk isn't a Gary stu.

@MyCoolYoung - except when Thanos wounds his pride
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/1/2022, 12:28 PM
@Origame - When did they show She-Hulk doing anything better than Hulk? Aside from being more agile, which she SHOULD be.
Origame
Origame - 8/1/2022, 12:33 PM
@CorndogBurglar - she threw the Boulder farther than him, she did the thunder clap better than him, she did more damage to the Cliffside than him. One of the trailers even has him stating he's jealous of her.

Also, considering she just got her new muscular body, no she shouldn't be more agile than him.
