WANDAVISION Star Elizabeth Olsen Shares Support For Scarlett Johansson's BLACK WIDOW Lawsuit: "Good For You"

WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen has opened up on the future of the theatrical experience in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and surprisingly chooses to publicly lend her support to Scarlett Johansson.

Things between Disney and Scarlett Johansson are becoming increasingly heated, and whatever happens with her Black Widow lawsuit, something tells us she'll never return to the MCU in any capacity.

That's far from the end of the world given her character's fate in Avengers: Endgame, of course, but the way things pan out with this legal battle could set a major new precedent. No matter who "wins" this thing, the Hollywood landscape is shifting thanks to COVID-19 and the rise of streaming services, and that's something WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen addressed in a recent interview.

"I'm worried about a bunch of things. Not worried on Scarlett's behalf," she tells Vanity Fair. "But I'm worried about small movies getting the opportunity to be seen in theaters. That was already a thing pre-COVID. I like going to the movies and I don't necessarily want to see only an Oscar contender or a blockbuster. I would like to see art films and art house theaters."

"And so I do worry about that, and people having to keep these theaters alive. And I don't know how financially that works for these theaters. I do hope that there's some sort of solution that the larger companies are coming together to keep, at least in L.A. this is going to happen. But I do think it's going to be how it kind of used to be when studios owned theaters."

"And I have a feeling that we might go back to that being the only way to keep them alive with such expensive real estate. But when it comes to actors and their earnings, I mean, that's just, that's just all contracts. So it's either in the contract or it's not." Olsen then elaborated on how she feels about Johansson's lawsuit, noting: "I think she's so tough and literally when I read that I was like, 'Good for you Scarlett.'"

It's certainly interesting to see Olsen lend her support to the Black Widow star publicly, though the majority do appear to be on Johansson's side - includingMarvel Studios President Kevin Feige, as it's previously been reported that he fought her corner with Disney before CEO Bob Chapek decided to take things in another direction (which has not gone well for him thus far).

Wait... that's support? "Good for you"? She was basically just saying that she doesn't know what's in her contract, she doesn't wish ill on her and there are really more important problems out there than these millionairs fighting over millions.

@InfinitePunches - You would have to ask Liz Olsen that, I guess, but she specifically tried to direct the attention to movie theatres struggling in the pandemic, which honestly does feel like a more reasonable and appropriate cause to fight for than rich people fighting over money.

The problem with small indie movies and art house projects is that nobody out of art house and indie fans know about them. The Oscars and Hollywood have pushed those films behind the curtain to allow Oscar Contenders and Popcorn flicks take over. If anything Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu have given the indie films a platform to be seen on. Streaming networks are the ones saving the art house projects.

Yeah she's right these streaming wars aren't benificial for non-blockbuster movies. And I know I'm part of the problem, because I don't think I've been to the cinema for anything but blockbusters since 2015 or so.

That's a pretty neutral response little above from "good luck" and "whatever floats her boat"

Really, does she have a case?

How much she would have made is pretty hypothetical and it was still released in theaters

Good for you, Scarlett.

Boo big company that likely does crap like this to a bunch of less prominent actors...

As much as I despise Disney, all I see here is greed on both sides. Scarlett made more money off the MCU movies than she ever has in her damn career, talk about biting the hands that fed you.

Did she not collect a 20 million dollar paycheck for this movie? Oh am so sorry you did not get more millions because your movie was not in theatres during a damn pandemic.

Black Widow in itself was nothing spectacular, yeah I said it. The movie was nothing more than sad rip of CATWS and not a good one at that.

I mean right down to the ending, where she saves TM was almost the exact same thing like Cap and Buky's last fight.

I do not think this movie would have made a billon in theatres or even crack 300 million. She is becoming the female version of Ray Fisher to me....to a lesser degree though because I do have a crush on her.
