We've been hearing rumours about Ahsoka featuring a meeting between Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano in the World Between Worlds for months now. The final moments of last week's episode, "Fallen Jedi," confirmed those, but it seems some changes to the sequence have been made since those reports first surfaced.
Despite a great deal of chatter about this episode featuring several What If...?-style sequences which introduce the concept of a Star Wars "Multiverse," both Making Star Wars and Bespin Bulletin (via SFFGazette.com) claim one key sequence will no longer be part of tomorrow's instalment.
The Mustafar scene which was going to pit Ahsoka against Anakin in a redo of Revenge of the Sith is gone. The reason isn't clear, but it does look like Lucasfilm has moved away from exploring the idea of showcasing different timelines and realities, a potentially wise decision given how people are souring on Multiverses.
Claims of Anakin being a "Mortis God" are said to be wrong, while past reports that Savannah Steyn is playing a young Ahsoka have been deemed similarly inaccurate. Instead, Barbie and Avengers: Infinity War star Ariana Greenblatt is rumoured to be taking on that role in flashbacks exploring the character's past.
Rather than a glimpse into the Multiverse, it sounds like the idea is to revisit key moments in Ahsoka's history (something it's hard to complain about when it likely means we'll get a live-action take on The Clone Wars). There's not long to go until we find out, anyway.
Some awesome new stills from "Fallen Jedi" have also been released, showcasing epic lightsaber action and Hayden Christensen's return as Anakin. You can check those out below.
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
The first four episodes of Ahsoka are now streaming on Disney+.
