There are still a few episodes of Andor left before this first season, and what promises to be an incredibly important year in Cassian Andor's life, concludes. Season 2 will explore the four years leading up to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with three episodes devoted to each of those over the course of another 12-episode season.

Talking to Collider (via SFFGazette.com), showrunner Tony Gilroy revealed new details about what fans can expect, including the news that Ariel Kleiman, Janus Metz, and Alonso Ruizpalacios will step in to direct episodes of the show.

Meanwhile, Dan Gilroy and Beau Willimon are set to return as writers, along with a new addition in the form of Star Wars newcomer Tom Bissell. It's apparent we have a lot to look forward to, and while he was praising Bissell, Gilroy confirmed Andor is going to take us back to an iconic location.

"Tom Bissell is really cool and really, really interesting, versatile, really good writer. But also a very, very, very big Star Wars fan, which we really wanted to make sure we had another pro because we're going into Rogue [One], and we're going to Yavin, and then we're going into places where we eventually need to really weave our way back to the source."

"So Tom came in, and he's been great. So he's got some episodes too."

We visited Yavin 4 in Rogue One as well, seeing the Rebellion make a base there before Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia also made their way to the planet. Learning more about how that became an important location for Cassian and his fellow Rebels should be a blast, and something longtime Star Wars fans will definitely be grateful for.

In the same interview, Gilroy also mentioned that production on season 2 has already begun, with cameras rolling for the first time on November 21. Hopefully, Andor's penchant for shooting on location means we can look forward to set photos teasing where this story goes next.

A new episode of Andor drops on Disney+ tomorrow. Check SFFGazette.com then for a full recap!

Above all else I appreciate Andor for how much effort and care was put into crafting it. I just don't find myself excited for it.

@ElricReturns - To me it seems like Disney took the least interesting property in the wealth of possible Star Wars stories to develop, but then developed it in the best possible way.

I hope Tony Gilroy stays in the Star Wars universe for a long time to come, he’s one of the best things to happen to it since Disney bought Lucasfilm.

@ELAYEM - I agree completely. I didn’t really care for Rogue One and I had absolutely no hype for this show going in. But it’s turned out to be the best thing Disney has done with the franchise since buying it. More like this please. Less like the ST and Kenobi.

This show is a masterful, patient stroke. The arc for Kino is among the best in anything this franchise has offered yet.
