THE MANDALORIAN Star Katee Sackhoff On Whether A Bo-Katan/Din Djarin Romance Was Considered In Season 3

Many fans theorised that Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze could find romance in season 3 of The Mandalorian, and now Katee Sackhoff has weighed in to reveal whether the idea was ever considered by Lucasfilm.

The Mandalorian season 3 gave Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze the chance to shine, and as the weeks went by, fans soon started theorising that she might be the titular "Mandalorian."

The idea has since been dismissed, but the show still ended with Bo-Katan being named the rightful leader of Mandalore (how the mythical Mythosaur factors into her story remains to be seen). Then, there are the theories pointing to Din Djarin and Bo-Katan eventually finding romance with each other.

In a recent interview (via SFFGazette.com), Sackhoff responded to that idea and was quick to shrug off claims it was ever even considered by Lucasfilm.

"No, I think that there's probably just as much speculation in the shipping of The Armor and Bo-Katan," the actress says. "I think that anytime you put a woman and a man on screen together, it's bound to happen. I think that that's just one of those things, that speculation that people enjoy."

"But no, nothing more than just joking around between myself and Brendan Wayne at work, so no."

Talk then turned to whether anything significant ended up on the cutting room floor during the making of The Mandalorian season 3, and while we now know it didn't include a romance, Sackhoff seems confident we didn't miss out on anything important.

"There were no scenes that I remember being cut, and if they were cut, there probably is a good reason for it," she admits. "I know that sometimes some scenes get shortened, and you know, and that's probably [because of] runtime."

"I think at the end of the day, Jon [Favreau] and Dave [Filoni] and the creators of the show have a very specific story in mind and feel of the show," Sackhoff continues. "So, they add and delete as they see fit to bring the show to life as it's being edited together."

Season 3 of The Mandalorian ended with something of a soft reboot; now Moff Gideon has finally been dealt with - unless that was a clone - and Grogu are freed to go on the sort of standalone adventures which defined the show's best episodes early on.

Sackhoff recently hinted that she'll reprise the role in season 4, though we'd bet on it being for fewer appearances, begging the question of whether there are spin-off plans in the works. If nothing else, we anticipate her and the rest of those Mandalorians in Filoni's planned Star Wars movie.

The Mandalorian season 4 doesn't have a confirmed premiere date, though we're expecting the show to return in late 2024/early 2025.

@marvel72 - No main character's been a lesbian in any Star Wars show or movie yet. Why would it be her?

eh this doesn't feel like the type of show to put enough focus on romance for any relationships to be believable

"I think that anytime you put a woman and a man on screen together, it's bound to happen."

Change that to two people who are remotely nice to each other nowadays, and she's not wrong.

But I don't think this show needs romance. The only bond that matters is the one between Djarin and Grogu.

@bkmeijer1 - They don't even have to be nice to eachother. lol.

Season 3 should have just been Darjin back to being by himself again.. kind of didnt want the empire as bad guys again

Why didnt they follow through with Din as new leader of mandalore?

They propped up Bo Katan who failed so many times, we are supposed to believe this next time is different?

Din Jarin as King Arthur uniting the Knights of Mandalore and riding the Mythosaur wouldve been so epic but Disney is filled up SJW softies who have no idea what a good story looks like.
I say this as someone who works parallel in the industry with many acquaintances that left Disney and had these complaints.

EnergyVamp
EnergyVamp - 11/29/2023, 7:31 PM
@dagenspear - I am responding and criticizing what they are actually doing. Literally Bob Iger said Disney movies were too political and I know folks who left Disney due to it. But clearly you dont know what you are talking about. Its okay, you just want to protect your overlords. It's coping strategy but I have sympathy for you.

@EnergyVamp - But Star Wars and MCU haven't done it, so what does this connect to about those things, when they've done it so little?
Batmangina

Make them both identify as they/them she/he/her/him and they can be gay/straight/nonbinary and poly all at the same time and Disney can lose another 100 Billion 🙌
dagenspear
dagenspear - 11/28/2023, 8:30 PM
@Batmangina - That has nothing to do with anything, considering they haven't even done that with any main relationship.
Batmangina
Batmangina - 11/28/2023, 10:25 PM
@dagenspear - That's because Star Wars is a blueprint for the Patriarchal designed and controlled systemic lack of representation and diversity in the galaxy.

If he has any kind of romantic relationship with anyone it needs to be the armorer. This is the way!

So, is it "the way" for him to remove his helmet for some physical romance?
