Gimme Some Sugar, Baby! Bruce Campbell To Star In EVIL DEAD TV Series

Bruce Campbell ("Burn Notice") likes to chew bubble gum and star in television shows… and he's all out of bubble gum. He'll star in Sam Raimi's new Evil Dead television series.

All right you primitive screwheads, listen up. Sam Raimi ("Oz the Great and Powerful"), the father of the Evil Dead franchise surprised everyone at San Diego Comic-Con when he announced that a new Evil Dead television series was in development. The only concrete information that he provided was that he was currently in the process of writing it with Bruce Campbell, Rob Tapert and his brother Ivan Raimi. Once news hit the web everyone wanted to know if Bruce Campbell would reprise his role as 'Ash,' and according to this tweet from the actor, he will!

Campbell previously starred in the original Evil Dead, the sequels Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness. He made a "groovy" cameo in the Evil Dead reboot, that was light on humor and heavy on the gore.

Beyond in human flesh, inked in blood-and amazingly hard to pronounce-the ancient "Necronomicon" unleashes unspeakable evil upon mankind in director Sam Raimi's outrageously hilarious sword-and-sorcery epic. Back to do battle with the hideous "Deadites," Bruce Campbell reprises his role from the Evil Dead series as Ash, the handsome, shotgun-toting, chainsaw-armed department store clerk from S-Mart's housewares division. Demonic forces time warp him-and his '73 Oldsmobile-into England's Dark Ages, where he romances a beauty (Embeth Davidtz) and faces legions of undead beasts, including a ghastly army of skeletons. Can Ash save the living from the dead, rescue his girlfriend and get back to his own time?

Army of Darkness was written and directed by Sam Raimi. His brother Ivan co-wrote the script. The cast included: Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams/Evil Ash, Embeth Davidtz as Sheila, Marcus Gilbert as Lord Arthur, Ian Abercrombie as Wiseman, Richard Grove as Duke Henry the Red, Bridget Fonda as Linda, Patricia Tallman as Possessed witch and Ted Raimi as Cowardly warrior / Second supportive villager / Anthony, the S-Mart clerk.

I love it! The original movies are very cool.

Ash is a great character. Bruce is great too & an older less-wiser more wise-ass Ash should be a lot of fun.
Fun mixed with horror..it needs gore but be a dark comedy/ horror show.

What tv network would do it justice I wonder? No to ABC,NBC,CBS,FOX or CW!

Evil Dead-Burn Notice....Ash gets recruited by the CIA, only to be cut loose and dropped in Miami where he solves local problems for a nominal fee. Sounds like a winner!

Oh good, is it time already for the Sam and Bruce tease something then two weeks later say that isn't going to happen? Thing happens about once a year, I too won't believe a word until I see footage and a network announce it.

A 17 million dollar movie making 97 million is not a flop, it is a huge success.

Not so much into horror anymore. So if the series would be themed after the first two movies, I'd pass. In the face humor like one in Army of Darkness isn't used widely anymore, though, and I'd enjoy getting my risible muscles strained. But I can't imagine how this type of jokes could be kept fresh over a whole season or more. Therefore I think the series will be horror based with just the occasional gag, as in the first two films. (Sorry for my english today. Am a bit tired...)
