We still don't know a whole lot about Venom but with Riot now confirmed as the movie's lead villain, it's clear that Carnage is being saved for somewhere down the line. It's widely believed that Woody Harrelson will play Cletus Kasady, especially as the actor has previously said that he makes a brief appearance to set the stage for future instalments and it does sound like we're getting some teases.
During a recent interview, director Ruben Fleischer was asked if the movie sets the stage for where Eddie Brock goes next in Sony's Spider-Man-less "Spider-Verse" and replied: "We’ve definitely laid some groundwork for different directions that the franchise could go but obviously it all hinges on people’s excitement about this film. I hope people will stay and see what seeds have been planted."
In other words, if Venom is a critical and commercial disappointment, you can kiss goodbye to the symbiote taking on Carnage in the sequel! We'll just have to wait and see how the movie turns out but there's a lot of negativity right now which will hopefully be proved wrong this October. What do you guys think?
