With Venom: Let There Be Carnage right around the corner, the marketing campaign for the movie has started amping up in a big way, and it feels like we're starting to veer into spoiler territory.
This latest sneak peek for the Marvel movie points to Cletus Kasady targeting Anne Weying (we've been kept in the dark about her involvement in the Venom sequel up until now), which is no great surprise when things are bound to get personal between him and Eddie Brock. There are lots of other great snippets of footage, but one, in particular, we're sure you'll have something to say about.
Near the end of the trailer, we see what appears to be a massive Carnage towering over a church. It's an unexpected, unique piece of imagery, but one that's actually 100% comic accurate.
There have been a few occasions where Carnage has grown giant-sized, whether it's to battle Venom or Spider-Man and his clone, Ben Reilly. Andy Serkis has talked a lot about delving into the source material to find inspiration for how the villain could be portrayed on screen, and it looks like he's plucked some ideas out of Cletus' more obscure adventures.
"Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as the lethal protector Venom, one of Marvel's greatest and most complex characters," reads a brief synopsis that was released on the movie's website (where you can now purchase tickets for the movie). "Directed by Andy Serkis, the film also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris and Woody Harrelson, in the role of the villain Cletus Kasady/Carnage."
As noted, Venom: Let There Be Carnage stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson. It's set to be released in theaters on October 1, 2021.
