In Batman: Arkham Asylum, BATMAN finds himself trapped inside the confines of Gotham’s psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane, ARKHAM ASYLUM. THE JOKER has set a trap for the DARK KNIGHT and has conspired with the deranged inmates to eliminate BATMAN once and for all. Adding to the authenticity of the game are veteran animated Batman voice talents Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy, who reprise their roles as The Joker and Batman respectively.

Batman: Arkham Asylum features an original story by Paul Dini, Batman writer and five-time Emmy Award winner whose credits include Lost and Batman: The Animated Series. Gamers will move in the shadows, instill fear amongst their enemies and confront The Joker and Gotham City's most notorious villains, including HARLEY QUINN, BANE, KILLER CROC, POISON IVY and SCARECROW, who have taken over the asylum.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is available for Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION 3 Computer Entertainment System. It will also be available for Games for Windows LIVE at retail outlets on September 18, 2009.

How far are you into it now Shaman? You diggin' it better now?

I'm about halfway through CoD: WaW on Veteran, then I've got to go back through The Darkness on hard, after that I'll be getting this game with a few trade-ins.

Aiiwolf - 8/28/2009, 10:47 AM
I have this game on Ps3. Thise game is BETTER on PS3...the controls...the exclusive ONLY for Ps3 Joker playability...and the extra levels/maps given to this exclusive.

Only thing about this game I didnt like how it mentioned their are this many villians on the island...and you only fight like maybe 5-6, and Killer Croc though he talks shit about how hes going to eat your bones...you dont even fight him... but totally loved the story and loved the SEQUEL ending. lol

This game was a bit short if you ask me...beat it in 2 days....would of beaten it in a day if i didnt taken breaks.

Really? [frick] yeah Batman!

And whoever thought of casting Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy as Joker and Batman again, Bravo, they are complete legends! They will always be my favourite Batman and Joker, even over Bale and Ledger!

It is a damn shame that Kevin and Mark have not gotten a cool cameo in the Batman movies yet. Maybe have them do a cameo in the third movie like the cameo Lou Ferrigno had in the Incredible Hulk

I think I am about half way into it. I'm looking for Killer Croc now. Its an awesome game. The Scarecrow segments are especially incredible.

@ Dancingmonkey08

Maybe because Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy have been doing their own side projects. Hamill did a few cameos in "Birds of PREY tv show" as the joker....and plus I heard this will be Conroy's LAST PERFORMANCE as the Batman voice-over....(hoping its not)

This is undoubtedly the best superhero game of all time. I'm at the same place you are @Tyler, and i would be farther if i didn't stop to do all the Riddler stuff.

It is short but it is AMAZINGLY BAD ASS. Hopefully they'll make a sequel that is even better. Like how Batman Begins was Awesome but Dark Knight was better.

So what boss' do you actually fight? That's a let down that you don't actually fight Croc.
TheMyth
TheMyth - 8/28/2009, 11:25 AM
I just looked it up. Victor Zsasz, Bane, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, and Joker. Is that correct? There is an achievement for going into Croc's Lair and coming out alive, 'Crocodile Tears', but I guess you just try to make it out without being eaten as opposed to fighting it out with him.

You do fight Croc...

Heidi Behrendt at WBIE is one of the major reasons this game is so great! She's awesome! COOL game and well-deserved kudos!!!

They explain, through the hidden audio tapes, why all the other villians are gone.
Shaman
Shaman - 8/28/2009, 11:48 AM
Myth- Actually i am enjoying it more! But i didn't get the chance to advance much. I did alot of exploring to find hidden stuff though. I'm hoping this game isn't as short as everyone says it is LOL :P

For the sequel, i said it before and i'll say it again! Tenchu control skills in a free roaming gotham, just like InFamous!!! Maybe even hiding in shadows like "Manhunt"! Would you guys like the possibility of becoming evil by having the choice to kill enemies or not :) Kinda a la Punisher. He could have to fight with a darker split personality developing in him.
Tobuttica
Tobuttica - 8/28/2009, 11:48 AM
Now we just need ONE good Superman game. Maybe Rocksteady should make that too.
crazyish
crazyish - 8/28/2009, 11:59 AM
Aiiwolf@ i dont get what you mean about how the controls on the PS3 are better then the controls on the 360 they are exactly the same. just fitted for the different controllers.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/28/2009, 12:07 PM
@ aiiwolf

thats hadly a reason to say its better on PS3. it may be better on PS3 NOW, but the joker and scarecrow challenge maps will DLC for xbox 360 soon. don't ever listen to the "exclusive" content for either console, that stuff always gets released on the other console that didn't get it on launch day. its not like the game plays better on PS3 than on 360...
Shaman
Shaman - 8/28/2009, 12:13 PM
Tobuttica- GOOD ONE!!! Now you're talkin :)) I mean, i enjoyed the free roaming flying in Superman Returns but goddamn those graphics and controls sucked!!! Rocksteady, get on it!!!
TheMyth
TheMyth - 8/28/2009, 12:18 PM
Craztish, I agree, that is just a basis of Aiiwolf preffering PS3 controllers over Xbox. PS3 controllers feel dainty and fragile in my hands, and as a hardcore gamer, I can tell you they can't take punishment lol. Xbox controllers are larger and MUCH more durable. I'm 6'5 though so I think that has a lot to do with the preference.

Shaman, damn your all about some stealth action lol. I didn't like any of the Tenchu games really, I have friends who were crazy about it too. Stealthy as I get is a Rogue in WoW, or Sniping in the middle of a CoD battlefield lol. I remember the Tenchu games you were either good at them or horrible, lol, I was the latter, I found it too easy to be seen/detected, but my friends seemed to have no problem.

Just finished the game myself. For a quick play through only missed about 40 riddler points. The challenge modes are enough to keep you busy even if the game is a bit short, not to mention some of the achievements (stringing over 40 flow combat moves, gliding over 100 meters). Then you have hard mode on top of it, good bye to the "oh no the thugs are attacking!" blue lightning symbols... least it adds another degree of difficulty. Awesome game overall, good summer for superhero games thanks to this and Wolverine.

And Superman blows... ha!
greenlanternsector2814
greenlanternsector2814 - 8/28/2009, 12:57 PM
I love this game. I did beat it in 3 days but I still have all the hidden stuff to get. But it is a game I can play numerous times. Especially to just do the freeflow combat. It's pretty freaking awesome when you can take down 20 baddies and not take a hit. Makes you seem like a bad ass.

How can you two of finished the game already???

Took me three days, it's kinda short. But I could not put that controller down. Got like 10 achievements to go...

RedHeadBruno
RedHeadBruno - 8/28/2009, 1:25 PM
It is for me, but I am a big Batman fan. I plan on playing it atleast one more time over on hard and getting all the achievements, if your not a gamer like that you may want to stick with a rental. It is a MUST play, not a MUST own
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/28/2009, 1:28 PM
@ fivebees

the fighting is my only complaint. taking down a bunch of guys without getting hit makes it feel way too easy. i want to be able to do combos and, i don't know, feel like i might actually die?? other than that its an awesome game
Shaman
Shaman - 8/28/2009, 1:30 PM
Myth- LOL, yes i definitely am ALL ABOUT STEALTH LOL. But not just "any" stealth. I'm not into sniper or any military games. I hate first person shooters and i get bored of straight up bash and thrash action games (although Wolverine does look interesting). In a way, Tenchu kinda screwed up my gaming enjoyment cause before playing that game, i used to love action games. But after playing Tenchu, NOTHING compared. When you fall in love with that type of game, it's very easy to get disapointed with every other game. I do LOVE me some superhero games though. So in my bubble, Batman is best in both worlds and until Arkham Asylum, i never got a bat-game that gave me all that i wanted. Now i do believe that they could adapt the sequel by making stealth optionnal. You could chose to sneek up behind enemies or be in their faces and kick them in the junk! I think you can somewhat do that in Arkham Asylum though... but like i said, i'm not that far yet :)

CorndogBurglar- I'd love to be able to block and grapple like aikido, block and counter with Kali moves or simply jump when i want to and whirlwind kick goons in the face. If they had incorporated at least an "option" where you can chose to fully control you character's moves, it would have been way better. And they could have left the option to easy-tap combo as well for the people who don't enjoy complex combo controls. When you enjoy tournament fighting games like i do, easy tap combos are cool but somewhat of a let down. On the other hand, it does create the "badass" effect ;)

RedHeadBruno - 8/28/2009, 1:35 PM
@ CorndogBurglar

I feel you kind of on the fighting, but as fivebees said, I enjoy being a bad ass. Atleast they changed it up a little with the tasers, knife fighters and plants... force you to use technique, not just button mash.
antz1104
antz1104 - 8/28/2009, 1:51 PM
Now that's f**kin' cool! I'd probably be done too if I wasn't OCD about getting all the tapes an trophys.Def worth the 60 bucks but I heard they made the batarang plastic and attached to a stand for the 100$ pack! That sucks.
2nd game: clayface breaks out w/ Freeze!

@ Aiiwolf

Well Kevin wasnt doing that much side projects so he could have appeared in the Dark Knight as a cameo but as I said hopefully he might cameo in Batman 3

But I really hope this game and the new animated movie aren't his last role as Batman, he is too good in the role and no matter how good Rino Romano & Diedrich Bader are as Batman, Conroy will always be the best
Shaman
Shaman - 8/28/2009, 2:04 PM
Of all the batman voices ever made, i think i prefer Keaton's (even though it's not a voice over from an animated series). But Romano will always be a favorite of mine as well as will Conroy.

i bought the collector's edition today for the ps3.the game is amazing although the gameplay reminds me of the batman begins game. the voice acting is magnificent of course. although batman is too muscular the game deserves the record. anyone knows the sales so far?
