Regardless of how Fallout Season 2 ends, fans can rest easy knowing we'll be getting a third season of the hit show. While Prime Video waited until the premiere of Fallout's first season before renewing it for a second, the streamer is showing much more confidence in the series by announcing that Season 3 has already been greenlit before the premiere of Season 2.
The announcement of Season 3 was made during Prime Video's annual upfront presentation in New York City this week. It was also confirmed that Season 2 will premiere in December 2025. It was revealed last week that production had wrapped on the show's second season.
Produced by Kilter Films, with executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, Fallout is a television series based on the video game franchise of the same name. It features an original story that is heavily influenced by the games but not a direct copy of them.
The first season primarily follows Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), an optimistic Vault-dweller who is forced to the surface to rescue her kidnapped father, Hank. The series also explores the stories of other wasteland surface survivors, including Maximus (Aaron Motel), a young soldier who serves as a squire in the militaristic faction called the Brotherhood of Steel, and The Ghoul (Walton Goggins), a morally ambiguous bounty hunter who has lived the last 200 years in the post-nuclear world.
Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. Two-hundred years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind—and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.
Season 2 will continue the story following Season 1's finale, which saw Lucky and The Ghoul seemingly forge a new alliance and set off into the wasteland. The finale also teased Hank heading toward an illuminated cityscape resembling New Vegas from the video games.
In Prime Video's press release, it was confirmed that Season 2 will, in fact, take viewers "through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas."
One of the most iconic settings in the game franchise, New Vegas serves as the central setting for 2010's Fallout: New Vegas. It's a post-apocalyptic city that has been built upon the ruins of pre-war Las Vegas.
“We are absolutely thrilled that our global Prime Video customers will be able to delve deeper into the wonderfully surreal and captivating world of Fallout,” said Amazon MGM Studios' head of television, Vernon Sanders. “Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have done an exceptional job bringing this beloved video game franchise to vivid life on Prime Video.”
Season 1 of Fallout is available to stream exclusively on Prime Video, with Season 2 premiering in December.
