Legendary warrior Link is set to return for another perilous quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom later this year, and Nintendo has now debuted an exciting new gameplay trailer.

This latest look at the highly-anticipated sequel to 2017's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild debuted during yesterday's Nintendo Direct, giving fans a much better idea of what to expect from Link's latest fantasy adventure video game.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will see the evil demon Ganondorf (who sounds a lot like Matt Mercer to us?) launch a massive aerial and ground attack on the kingdom of Hyrule, with the titular princess imploring the Hylian hero and his trusty Master Sword to intervene.

This game will feature many of the same aspects as its predecessor, including a detailed open-world environment, which is expanded to allow for more vertical exploration.

Tears of the Kingdom will be the first Nintendo Switch exclusive to retail for $69.99, which has not sat very well with some fans. The collector's edition, meanwhile, will cost $129.99 - but it includes an artbook, a Steelbook case, an Iconart steel poster, and a set of four pin badges.

Despite rumors of a significant release date delay, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is still set to hit shelves on May 12th. Do you guys plan on picking this up? Drop us a comment down below.

Looks like dlc for BOTW.

@Humperdoo - BotW was awesome, so I'm okay with that.

It's very obviously a new story. And the Switch was already an underpowered system when it launched. So games won't look any better than this on that system.

As long as they add more traditional dungeons and make it so weapons don't constantly break so easily I'll be happy.

@CorndogBurglar - Totally agree. The weapons breaking constantly was SOOOOO annoying. I never understood how they thought that added to the gameplay. Some real dungeons would be awesome too. Doesnt seem like that will be the case based on the footage though.

@Shivermetimbers - I would even be okay with the same heavily puzzle based dungeons as long as they have more and a solid boss in each of them.

@CorndogBurglar -
@Shivermetimbers

Did either of you play skyward sword original or remaster?

I kind of understand why they went in a different direction to traditional dungeons after SS. That was the first time I felt the Zelda formula strated to feel a bit stale. However, I do miss the traditional dungeons....shirnes were cool though

@Clungermania - Skyward Sword was cool. I liked it. But I still miss the classic dungeons.

@Clungermania - I never played those ones. Sorry. I might have to check it out.

@Shivermetimbers - you should give it a try if you can get it for cheap. It's quite long though 🤣 far more dungeons than I expected.
