Variety is reporting that Daniel Wu has joined WB/MGM/GK Films' upcoming reboot of Tomb Raider, which will be the third live-action film adaptation of the popular video game series of the same name. He'll portray a ship captain by the name of Lu Ren, who will join forces with the adventurous Lara Croft on her quest to find her father.

He joins a cast headlined by Academy Award-winner Alicia Vikander (Jason Bourne), who will breathe life into the iconic Lady Croft, and that will also feature Walton Goggins (Vice Principals) as the film's main villain.

Production is expected to being this month, although judging by an Instagram snapshot from Goggins, the team may already be a week or so into filming.

Wu is best known to American audiences for his lead role on the AMC drama Into the Badlands and last year, he also appeared as the dastardly orc Gul'dan in Duncan Jones highly ambitious film adaptation of Warcraft. Prior to making the jump to Hollywood, Wu appeared in over sixty Chinese films.

@JohnnyTBP - Johnny, if you loved Into the Badlands, have you ever read Lazarus? The comic-book series? If not, you should. You can shoot me if you don't like it, but you will. Like it, not shoot me.

Topic is too old for anyone to care now, but what the Hell. If you love Into the Badlands (who wouldn't) and you also love comics (who wouldn't), pick-up LAZARUS on the shelves. Omnibus collection is gorgeous. One of the best comics of these past few years.
