TOMB RAIDER Director Confirms That Film Will Follow The 2013 Reboot Game

Norwegian director Roar Uthaug has confirmed that his Tomb Raider reboot will follow the story told in the critically acclaimed, 2013 reboot of Lara Croft from Crystal Dynamics.

Crystal Dynamics 2013' reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise with a younger, scrappier Lara Croft was met with universal praise from critics and fans alike.  The fact that the reboot film from Warner Bros. and MGM will follow the plot from the action-adventure game should be seen as a sign that the film is headed in the right direction.  Said Uthaug---

"I think making Lara Croft feel like a real human being, that's definitely something we want to bring to the big screen as well.  I think we'll want to make people relate to Lara as a character. I'm hoping to bring some of my Norwegian sensibilities to the franchise."

The Tomb Raider reboot is currently without a release date but Geneva Robertson-Dworet was recently hired to write the script.  With upcoming video game films such as Warcraft (directed by Duncan Jones) and Assassin's Creed (starring Michael Fassbender), do you agree that the future of video game films looks rather bright at the moment?

Probably the best choice. We already got two adaptations of the over-the-top original games, didn't exactly go too well.

@auditore - If they truly are going to be rebooting and going with the 2013 Reboot story, they're going to want somebody in their Very Early 20s for this.

There are rumors that Ice Cube is going to be the new J. Jonah Jameson in the MCU Spider-Man movie.

I know many people won't want this, but personally I can't wait to see this! ^^

I just hope they cast a incredible actress and someone who isn't known well and famous and I also don't wanna see some B Class Actress.

I like the idea but uhh no idea what his "Norwegian sensibilities," are. For that matter, who the hell is this guy.

Lauren Cohen and Hayley Atwell are both way too old to play Lara in the reboot. The best casting i have seen (and it's not one i would have thought of) is Emma Watson as it would serve to not only add credibility to the film and her feminist stance wouold ensure that it portrays Lara in the right way. It would alos give her the chance to play an action caharacter rather than just Hermione.

Nobody confirms that they care about a Tomb Raider reboot.

Call me when there's a Ridge Racer adaptation in the works.

I'm not at all impressed by the director's credentials. Tomb Raider should be brought to the screen by a female director or else we'll get the old Male Gaze.
