The first downloadable content (DLC) pack for DC Universe Online (DCUO), “Fight for the Light” is now available. Featuring favorite DC Universe hero, Green Lantern and the introduction of the game’s seventh power set, Light, the new DLC pack is now available for download on both the PC and PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system.

In times of great need, the Green Lantern and Sinestro Corps can give out “reservist rings” to worthy heroes or enthusiastic villains who will help restore the balance of the universe for their side; these players can be deputized into either Corps and fight alongside legendary ring-bearers. In addition to the new light power set, DCUO players will also be able to interact with characters and missions based on the Green Lantern mythos in all-new gameplay scenarios.

S.T.A.R. Labs – Deep within S.T.A.R Labs, Brainiac seeks to create an experimental device that will allow him to harness the power of the emotional spectrum, the source behind the Lantern Corps’ rings. This attack throws the Lantern Corps into chaos, and players must join a fragile truce between the Green Lanterns and the Sinestro Corps to bring the powerful devices back under S.T.A.R. Labs’ control.

Once players have destroyed Brainiac’s destructive device, it unleashes a backlash of power, causing the Green Lanterns, Sinestro Corps and Red Lanterns to go crazy unleashing a series of attacks throughout the universe. This sudden explosion of power creates massive chaos which leads to clashes between the two sides in Coast City and on Oa, and the players are required to join the battle in order to help in restoring order to these zones.

Coast City Alert (4-player) & Duo (2-player) – Players must battle their way through the “City Without Fear” to Ferris Aircraft, the home of ace test pilot Hal Jordan. Here they face the unbridled rage of the Red Lantern Corps in a showdown to save the city and the Universe.

Sciencells Prison – On the Green Lantern Corps’ home planet Oa, heroes will join Guy Gardner to stop a prison break that threatens to release the most fearsome prisoners of the Green Lantern Corps. Villains will fight alongside Sinestro as he attempts to release the Green Lantern Corps’ greatest foes and retrieve the evil Lyssa Drak from her emerald-powered prison cell.

Green Lantern offers another exciting superhero for PC and PS3™ players to join forces with in their epic battles online, following DCUO’s ongoing combat missions featuring other DC Comics legends such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Joker and Lex Luthor.

DC Universe Online’s “Fight for the Light” DLC pack is now available in the U.S. for download for free for all players with an active DCUO account. The “Fight for the Light” DLC pack requires the DC Universe Online software and an active DCUO subscription in good standing.

I agree with RyanLantern77. Green Lantern is a great character, a pioneer of science fiction superheroes and an icon. It's a shame that DC/WB can't figure out how to use him and the mythos right!!

Green Lantern is one of the GREATEST comic book heroes alive!!! :) Felt someone needed to say it (and if I had a PS3, I'd be really into this news).

@Gusto. Actually, all I have is the XBOX 360 (which I still think is the greatest gaming system today). Just saying that if I had a PS3, I'd play DCUO.

"Fight for the Light"? Some preschoolers made that sentence?

Green Lantern is okay though.

And real men play on the PC (not that often surely), kids play on the consoles.

I noticed the Green Lantern articles are slim to none nowadays ever since the movie flopped...lol.

Funny; this originally was going to cost $10, but then they realized no one is playing the game so they offered it for free. The timing of this was obviously meant to coincide with the release of the movie, so they must have thought the movie would be a big bang and would help sell this DLC. Unfortunately, the movie sucked and while the game is fun, it lacks depth and the backing of an interested community. I enjoyed my time playing it, but I won't pay $15 a month for a game that I'm basically playing alone (I did play this for about 2-3 months). Overall, the communication tools in the game basically just suck. :(

The game had improved vastly since they merged all their servers into one mega server. No more long waits in que's to enter duos, alerts, or raids. The problem now though is everyone and their brother switched to "Light" powers and since it only comes in one role (controller) there is a glut on those and fewer players in other roles to fill out the rosters of said alerts and raids. Now we are back to waiting in que's again.

One step forward, one step back.

@marvel72 if you start a new character you can create a Green Lantern or a Yellow Lantern. Also if you go to the Market Place in your menu you can get a token in the redeemable section to make a current character a GL but they lose their old powers. There is also a new GL duo and GL Alert. I dont know if there is a raid though i have not check that.

@Champ6 They have improved the communication tools since the launch and is almost on par with WOW. But still maybe not as smooth but I think that is because of its design being for PS3 as well. I play on PC though. Also with the Duos you only need one other person to get marks to buy better armor unlike WOW where you need 5 ppl. Plus you can queue up for things. You should join a League to find ppl to play with.

About the $15 a month, any MMO worth a damn has that and its defiantly light years better then the Conan MMO.

I bought this game in january, had it till feb because of the free month and havnt paid for any of the months just because Ive heard people complain about the game crashing and all that crap, until this gets better or its for free I aint spending a penny

@niknik I know some player switched their mains to have Light powers but I think the majority like myself just created a new additional character with Light powers. So I think in a couple of weeks it will even out some. I am on the US PVE server my main is RighteousRage (Fire) and my GL is John E

@Spideyboy91 it has improved a lot. And in the last 2 months have only DCed once and it was in an Alert. But still it kicks you from party if you are in a random Alert unlike WOW which they need to fix.

Is it still $15 per month Subscription Fee?

Haven't renewed my subscription since my trial ended.

Mediocre game that's too expensive.

it's pretty cool. i just miss my Traps and Tricks. Everyone does the same moves now cuz they all are in the GL Corps and now i'm like :-/.
niknik
niknik - 9/8/2011, 11:53 AM
@ Dmon - I hear what you're sayin' but whether or not they are respecing their existing alts (whether its a healer or tank) or creating a new one from scratch, it is pigeon holed into being a controlller, thus with every new GL running around (and there are a TON of them now) they are ALL controllers. It's like a locust plague. My two best alts, "Cap" and "Captain Kree" (Mar-ell) are BOTH controllers and finding an opening now is almost impossible with all the controllers running around. Sony should have given players at least two roles to choose from in order to keep this kind of thing from happening. Should have seen it coming.

I think it's fitting that I have mostly Marvels running around the DCU. Take that "new 52". DC = Don't Care.

@Dmon My main is Geezuss (Fire DPS), you should look me up!

I will say that DCUO has had its bumps in the road, but it is making leaps and bounds ahead. Does anyone remember when WOW came out? It had a slew of issues, but now is doing well.

P.S. - Real men have PC, PS3, and 360 :P

Only reason to read comics is because of the green lanterns.. and the flash.
