Chris Pine Talks World War I Set WONDER WOMAN And His "Rogue-Ish" Take On 'Steve Trevor'

Chris Pine is playing Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman, and while speculation continues to run rampant about him reprising the role in a present day setting, the actor is clearly excited about appearing during World War I in this DC Comics adaptation. "[It’s] a period we don’t see often; it’s usually World War II," he said during a recent interview to promote The Final Hours. "Our costume design is incredible. We have scenes with, like, 500 extras all in period dress. I’d never been on a film with extras casting as beautifully done as it is here. It highlights a really important point. When background casting is done well, it can make or break a scene. I’ve got people in deep background that have entire lives. It’s awesome, it’s actual make-believe land." Recent set photos have shown that to be the case, but how is Pine's Trevor going to fit into these surroundings?

"Steve Trevor is a rogue-ish, cynical realist who’s seen the awful brutish nature of modern civilization. He’s a worldly guy, a charming guy and it’s going to be a great, fun film. There are some incredibly deep, interesting and morally relevant themes." As for Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, he added: "Patty is just directing the daylights out of it. It’s shot beautifully feels so wonderfully period, but also has this wonderful pop sensibility." Moving on to another franchise, Pine was quizzed on that divisive Star Trek Beyond trailer and the choice of song. "I don’t cut together the trailers. It’s obviously put together by people who have their own ideas. It’s business and we want people to see our film. It (the movie) is fast and fun though." As for whether or not the preview accurately reflects this take on the series from Fast and Furious helmer Justin Lin, he concluded: "I’m not saying it does or doesn’t. It’s one version. There are going to be many more trailers." What do you think about these comments from the Wonder Woman star?

@DarthBob

"A vast majority of movie goers do not care about a Wonder Woman movie"

Well I can say one thing about that... you're absolutely wrong.

How good it does at the box office will depend on the quality of the movie itself and DC movies preceding it.

WW sounds like it is going to kick @$$. I can't wait to see it. New Star Trek with action hero Scotty looks terrible, but Chris Pine is a good actor and he will bounce back if it does poorly.

Sounds like it's going to have a lot to do with WW's "peace" mandate.

And it's easy to pick out the anti-DC trolls. If the exact same descriptions were used for Captain America, they'd be all over it.
