When you think of DCEU success stories, Zack Snyder isn't a name that comes up very often. The writer/director/producer has had a rough go of it with negative reception to
Batman v Superman and the whole
Justice League debacle/box office bomb. But believe it or not, Snyder played a pretty significant role in the production of
Wonder Woman and has shared his latest accolade with fans via social media.
Snyder shared a photo of his 2017 AFI Award on Vero for his work on
Wonder Woman. The certificate reads,
"American Film Institute is proud to recognize Zack Snyder and the creative ensemble of Wonder Woman for its contribution to America's Cultural Legacy."
Snyder commented alongside the photo,
"What a great time."

While director Patty Jenkins has received most of the praise for her work on
Wonder Woman, Zack Snyder also had a significant role on the project serving as producer and having developed the story. In fact, when Gal Gadot accepted the Rising Star award at the Palm Springs Film Festival Gala recently, the actress thanked Zack Snyder for giving her the opportunity to play the iconic character.
"Four years ago, I got tired of all the 'no's and the rejections that I just wanted to quit acting," Gadot said. "But of course the universe works in mysterious and wonderful ways and I received a phone call that I got this very special part. Zack Snyder had this strong vision of who Wonder Woman should be and I am forever grateful that he gave me the opportunity to play this iconic character."
Regardless of how you feel about Snyder's films, there's no doubt he's made a significant contribution to the DC Extended Universe, and it's nice to see him finally get some recognition for his work on what is undoubtedly the DCEU's most successful film to date. Wonder Woman was nearly universally praised by both fans and critics and broke box office records. It's currently the fifth highest-grossing superhero movie domestically and is also the 20th highest-grossing film in general at the domestic box office. It made $821 million worldwide.
Of course, a sequel to Wonder Woman has been announced, with director Patty Jenkins returning, and Snyder will also be producing that.
