Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot's new action thriller from director Kevin Macdonald, The Runner, is now streaming on Prime Video, and for the majority of critics, the movie failed to get off the starting block.

The Runner follows Gadot's Maia Marten, a successful London-based attorney who is thrust into a tense and dangerous chase across the city after her son is abducted. Forced to obey a series of cryptic commands from a mysterious Caller (Damien Lewis), she races against time through a web of secrets and threats in a desperate bid to save her son.

Based on 21 reviews, The Runner is currently sitting at an abysmal 10% on Rotten Tomatoes.

There's still room for that score to rise, of course, but as things stand, this marks the lowest RT score of Gadot's career (yes, including Red Notice).

You can have a read through some of the full reviews at the links below.

According to the movie's official synopsis, "The Runner follows high-powered London lawyer Maia Marten (Gal Gadot) as a mysterious caller abducts her son and forces her to sprint across the city under strict, merciless commands."

Her Wonder Woman is still the best female hero movie ever. Even Linda Carter was a bad actress outside of her Wonder Woman.

@ClarkJoeKent - I mean there are not many good options in terms of female led superhero movies, Black Widow could give a run for its money

@ClarkJoeKent - thats why i gave you the reason in a "comicbook movie", but you said best female hero movie ever, thats why i made a difference

@ClarkJoeKent - Thought we were talking about quality and not box office lol In that point of view Captain Marvel wins quite easily

@Urubrodi - Non of those movies was BETTER than the 1st Wonder Woman movie. PERIOD! You're not being serious.
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 9/3/2026, 10:06 AM
@ClarkJoeKent - You literally just used box office as a measure of quality and I'm the one not being serious. I DO NOT think Captain Marvel is better than Wonder Woman but since you were talking money that one made over a billion. As for ACTUAL quality, Black Widow is a decent movie and I personally don't consider Wonder Woman this masterpiece, it's enjoyable.

ClarkJoeKent - 9/3/2026, 10:44 AM
@Urubrodi - I NRVER said "masterpiece" I just said it's THE BEST COMICBOOK FEMALE SUPERHERO FILM. To say Black Widow is a "DECENT" movie doesn't say it's BETTER! Cuz it's NOT! It's just decent. Wonder Woman's film is BETTER! smfh talking about COPE-A-MANIA!

@MarkCassidy - I'm never gonna' watch this; would you mind spoiling the ending for me, warrior?
RealTurner
RealTurner - 9/2/2026, 10:09 PM
@EskimoJ - Happy to pick that up. She's being forced to kill a witness in order to save her son. But along the way there are (incredibly obvious) parts where we aren't shown her putting a plan in place to have her cake and eat it; by typing a message on a phone she stole and then writing a long convoluted message about blanks and blood bags in reverge letting using lipstick on a barbershop window (yes as crap as it sounds) her allies are able to set things up so she can "excute" the witness. After saving her son, the all-knowing mastermind is still at large, but her son reveals him by pissing himself and the cops grab him.

She causes chaos across the city, including stealing phones, getting hit by a car, assulting a thief, discharging a weapon, threatening cops, causing traffic accidents, and more. She also leaps from an amublance where she is being treated and jumps off a bridge onto a moving boat; she's a lawyer not an athelte and yet she bascially sprints around for an hour and a half, picking up a head injury early into the adventure.

So, it's just crap, but it isn't her performance. Actually she's quite good. Everything else is awful. The kid is the whitest little posh noble boy you've ever heard declare "why Mummy there's not enough gold leaf on my buttered bread this morning," completely failing to sell the two of them being a family. It leans into clieches so hard--the kid is a daibetic and she calls him "monkey"--and incredibly lacks any kind of tension or suspense for pretty much the entire... running time.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 9/3/2026, 6:28 AM
@RealTurner - True, Gadot isn't even really the problem. She gives it her all, which is... what it is. It's just a very silly movie that becomes outright ridiculous at the end.
RealTurner
RealTurner - 9/3/2026, 7:06 AM
@MarkCassidy - She's horrible miscast across that kid as his "mother," but she does the running well, emotes pretty well, and did what she could. It's not so much "a shame about everything else" so much as amazement this is all she can get now.
