A funny thing happened this summer, FOX actually made not one, but two very good comic book related movies. The studio has a long history of making poorly conceived CBMs, with the last one, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, leaving an extremely bad taste in the mouths of most comic book fans. And you can't blame the CBM community for groaning every time Fox is attached to a comic book related entity, just look at the list of below average CBMs they've been associated with, like: Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four, X-Men: The Last Stand, and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

But all that has changed with the two refreshingly terrific films, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and X-Men: First Class. Two films that have been successes at the box office and with the critics. Two films that have revitalized lucrative franchises, and have re-energized the fan bases. And for that I salute 20 Century Fox and hope they keep up the good work. Maybe next time they announce another comic book film project you'll hear a 'Hell yah' instead of an 'Oh no'.

Excerpt from comingsoon.net interview with Tim Rothman, CEO of Filmed Entertainment
Rothman confirmed to us that they plan on continuing on from both movies and they're going to try to get both Rupert Wyatt and Matthew Vaughn back to direct once they get the scripts together. "Both of them were really great scripts and so we have to be sure to get great scripts again," Rothman said. "We're working hard on the scripts for both of them, but we have every hope of moving forward with them."
