Lauren Shuler Donner On The Possibility Of Channing Tatum Starring In A GAMBIT Movie

Not too long ago, 21 Jump Street and G.I. Joe: Retaliation star Channing Tatum revealed that he would love to play Gambit on the big screen. Now, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner reveals that she's on board with the idea and now plans to convince Fox to give it the green light...

After being played by Taylor Kitsch in the forgettable X-Men Origins: Wolverine, there's been no sign of Gambit on the big screen since. However, after Channing Tatum recently put himself forward for the role, Empire Online caught up with producer Lauren Shuler Donner and asked her for her thoughts on his comments. "I'm dying to do a Gambit movie with Channing Tatum. That doesn't have to be a great big movie. It's a thief in New Orleans, it's a whole different story. He's on board, and I have to get the studio on board. How can anyone resist Channing? He's such a sweetheart." Could it happen? It certainly sounds like it may be, ahem, on the cards!

Whoa! I'd be okay with this, but I was hoping DC would line CT up for something. Despite what people say, he's a good actor beyond just being funny.

Make it a buddy comedy with Tatum's Gambit and Reynold's Deadpool... and no, I'm not joking.

Gambit sucks. There's no market for a Gambit film. There are far more interesting X-Men than that.

I don't think Gambit needs a stand-alone movie but at least let the guy appear as a major secondary character in all the films.

I'd be ok if they slimmed Channig down some. He's kind of too built for Gambit if you ask me. My only problem with Kitsch as Gambit was that he was too short and stalky. Ironically, I think he has the best body type and face for Wolverine. Someone lean and lanky like a Joel Kinnaman type would be more appropriate for Gambit I think.

frick] NO!

Sure CT is superhero material, but not Gambit!!!

Laura doesn't know what the [frick] she is talking about....there is a video floating around where she said she has never read an X-Men comic.....this is pure "Grab any good looking/big name actor" and cast him.....this is pure greed, throw out any X-men movie, without care for the fans!!!!

Hate to imagine what it'd turn out like!

But then again suggest Joel Kinnaman for everything (NIghtwing, Iron Fist) etc.

Hey, I like Tatum as much as anybody else. He's a better actor than he gets credit for. But Fox has got to stop just pulling X-Men related crap outta their asses like a bothersome hemorrhoid or something!

Sheesh!
