More From Bryan Singer On X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST; "It Has A Lot Of Aspects Of The Comic"
Following his comments on time travel (scroll a little further down the front page for that), X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer now discusses how closely the movie will stick to the comic books, which past X-movies it takes an influence from and promises more swearing from Hugh Jackman!
"It has a lot of aspects of the comic," teased X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer in a recent interview with Empire Online. However, he was quick to point out that that doesn't necessarily mean fans should expect a direct adaptation of the beloved storyline! "The actual comic of Days Of Future Past had a whole ton of stuff going on, so it’s like any of these things; you have to distill it. But I think the fans will be pleased that some of the most exciting parts of Days Of Future Past are going to be connected to this movie."
Many of those same comic book fans would surely be happier if the prequel/sequel skipped over duds like X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but that WON'T be the case. "I’m taking into account every movie – I’m not just grabbing my first two movies and First Class and smashing them together. I’m taking into account the entire universe as it’s been laid out so far on the screen, and really respecting it and trying to work with that. People took things in various directions, so there’s some clean-up," he confessed. "But ultimately I’m not just ignoring them either."
"I’ll be using Twitter as an avenue," Singer added when asked about his decision to share casting details with his followers on the social media website. "I think Twitter is an amazing thing. Very often something gets out there in the rumour-sphere, and people start building up an impression of something that might not be right. So what I want to do is just little by little drop out whatever information is official." Finally, we know that Wolverine will return, but will his potty mouth? (as seen in X-Men: First Class) ""We’re going to have another one in this one. We have another one coming up!"
