@Spideyman

Into Darkness was promoted heavily and yet it has failed to even break even at the box office with a budget of 190 million and its grossed only 330 million thus far. Remember a studio only gets half a movies box office haul and now that its leaving theaters in a couple of weeks it needs to make a lot more money to not a flop.

MoS is going to be practically out of the cinemas by the time Wolverine comes out, thats like saying Iron Man 3 is going to steal all of MoSs money even though it came out a month earlier and everyone who was gonna go see it already has.

I know,that's right,but the fact is the people that will see MoS will make a confrontation to the hugeness of MoS and the cheapest of Wolverine i don't think the general audience will be attract by wolvie ,Iron man 3 it's a different situation,the general audience went to see just only for RDj and because was the first Marvel movie after the success of Avengers.

Just the fact that they are saying all the same stuff they did about xmen origins wolverine, like how this is a new look at wolverine and this is an entire movie devoted to bringing the character justice..... Sure this film isn't filled to the brim with characters but it could still flop

The Wolverine was the same shit of X-Men 1-2-3 and Origins,no new look,no costume,no R-rated,nothing new just a mod with a different location.

Nobody in their right mind expects this to make MoS money, but that being said I hardly believe this is gonna end up flopping. Theres such a devoted fan base to this character, plus the fact that it already looks to be vastly superior to X-Men Origins ( which i personally didnt hate). Once July hits, after a couple weeks cushion from MoS, expect to see Wolvie Ads like crazy. But in the end, this movie should turn out to be a success, maybe not a huge MoS success, but an overall success.

Tempo - 6/8/2013, 11:57 AM
For me a flop is like 200 mln,Oringins was 360-380 mln i don't rember but after the disappointing movie and this is sort of sequel (Origins end credits scene) and after super-hero inflation for me The Wolvie will not make more than 300mln.
ekrolo2
ekrolo2 - 6/8/2013, 12:06 PM
@Tempo

Like I said before, a film needs to make double its budget in order to break even (not counting marketing). So far the Wolverines budget is about 100 million, to break even they need to make 200, 300 is already a financial success.

First Class had a budget of between 140-160 million and made about 385 million, making it a financial success and it made Fox between 80 to a 100 million dollars. So yeah even if your estimate of 300 million is correct, the movie will still be successful even with that amount.

@willyp7257

How much money is MoS going to really make though? Sure people are going to see it solely based on the fact its a Superman flick, but all of the previous Superman films were either mediocre to terrible. Plus Superman Returns had that going for it as well and it failed miserably. Plus its a reboot which means it needs to prove itself to the audience before they see it.

ekrolo2
ekrolo2 - 6/8/2013, 12:10 PM
@willyp7257

With a budget of 225 million MoS is going to have to make at least 550 to break even and about 650 million to be profitable for Warner Bros. with all of the odds stacked against it.

I have very little hope for this movie. It's supposed to be based off of "The Wolverine" comic mini series, but yet the trailer had all of the "I'm losing my powers" bullshit. If this and DOFP flops, Fox should just give up on XMen all together.
ekrolo2
ekrolo2 - 6/8/2013, 12:16 PM
@FreakingIntelligentRobertGriffin

That much?! I doubt its going to reach Avengers level of box office success but if the movie is really, really good I can see it making a TDK level of money which is enough of a success to jump start the DCCU.

I just can't get excited at all for this. I was a big Wolverine fan once, and I definitely am a Hugh Jackman fan, but... no. Back when Aronofsky was supposed to be directing I was psyched for this, but everything since then didn't impress me...

If the movies crap I hope they don't but if it turns out to be great then I hope they come true. Its about time DC started getting serious with their superheroes on the big screen.
