Watch The X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Trailer With Commentary From Bryan Singer

We've already had the director's notes on the trailer from Empire, but now MTV have provided some extra tidbits of information -- including the fact that Singer was influenced by the first Man Of Steel teaser when putting this together.

Not being from the US, I can't actually watch the trailer myself and am also prohibited from embedding it -- but if you click on the image below you can watch over at MTV. Singer rehashes some of his commentary from yesterday (such as Wolverine's graying locks, the new mutant characters etc) but any new highlights can be found below.

On The Tone Of The Trailer:

"I asked for something emotionally driven for this first piece, to just reintroduce characters and the stakes. It's got plenty of action and scope, but I think at it's core to remind audiences of the world, the stakes, and the characters, so it was nice to lead with a piece like this. To be honest, I was very fond of the 'Man of Steel' trailer. I felt really felt that it captivated the heart of that character. I wanted something similar to that."

On The Timeline:

"Most of the picture takes place in 1973, but in the third act, you got back and forth. I've created a way where parallel action can take place, so you'll be living with the characters in the future as well as in the past."

On Our New Mystique:

"It's much, much closer, from the hairstyle to her agility. She hasn't quite become the cold assassin that Rebecca was, but she's headed on that course. It's much more closer to that character from 'X1' and 'X2,' from the innocent character that she was in 'First Class.'

"There's an event. The movie is gearing towards this one event, and things go terribly wrong. That's a moment in the 'Things go terribly wrong' sequence."

Oh for god's sake, Singer. There are no do-overs.

Everytime you add a commentary, explanation or captions to the trailer it makes you look more and more desperate to please after the negative criticism of the trailer.

Just make the next one much better and move on.

Dear Mr Singer , why do you hate cyclops (masden) so much ?

Why does wolverine get yet another movie ?

I hope Bishop is not just a background brother , that has one line or one scene (like colossus in x2).

It seems to me that Singer is trying too hard. I wonder if it is because the movie's story is a bit complicated and he is worried that viewers might get confused.
With all the different universes(X1,X2/M-Men:Origins/XM-FC) involved, with different renditions of the same characters plus the new back and forth timeline with the same characters being shown simultaneously from the future and the past, I think he is right to be worried, no matter what the story is.
When we first heard about it, we thought Avengers will be hard to pull of with the multiple characters involved, thankfully Joss pulled it off. But with this many characters, different universes and timelines, Singer seems to have his work cut out.

If you have to do more explaining than just showing, then you are already in trouble. The more and more Singer speaks, the less and less confident I am that he will make things right.

"The pre-teaser was a desperate attempt to take steam away from Captain America"
"He's just adding commentary because this was awful because it lacked explosions"
"Bryan Singer sucks... Even though he was directly involved in all the good X-Men movies, two of which are some of the best CBM's of all time, and one of which kickstarted the modern CBM boom"
"Fox needs to give back the rights they paid good money for back to Marvel, so this way Marvel is so focused on redoing the X-Men movies they won't have time for new stuff like Inhumans, Doctor Strange, or Black Panther."

We get it, you don't like the movie that hasn't come out yet; stop whining and move on. At least wait for the film to come out before decrying the man who directed two great X-Men films and wrote/produced another.

i still say One would think Proff X would tell logan he gonna send him back a few years earlier to keep his ass from getting shot, then tell him "Oh by the way a few years after that this guy is gonna be killed and set the stage for world destruction so see if you can look into that as well'

Brian Singer is a great dramatic Director but he is weak on action driven movies. Also, I can't help to feel his insecurities in the way he keeps postings tidbits and "teasers". It's like he is trying desperately to get some positive feed back from fans. Honestly, I don't give a crap about pre-teasers and tidbits… Just show us something kickass that needs no explanations! I swear...He is acting just like Bret "Hacktner" man!

X1 and X2 are overrated and Blade kicked off the modern CBM boom, as much as some of you hate to admit it. X1 was '00, Blade was '98. Only 2 years separate the 2 and it would ludicrous to gropud Blade with the Batman '89 era.

Bryan Singer is the guy who casts Halle Berry as Storm, turned Sabertooth into a two-bit henchman/buffoon, took all of Bobby Drake/Iceman's personality away, made Lady Deathstrike about as ancillary as Jar-Jar Binks and thinks black leather is THE go-to idea for costumes. I'd say any and all concerns about him returning to the directors chair are justified.
Also, directing "the best" movies in a series of mediocre films isn't something too special.

I find that many ppl defending the X-Men series fall bacl to saying, "well, just be grateful we get to see an X-Men movie," which to me is settling for the excrement that should potentially be the greatest franchise hands down. Yet another group that champions these movies don't even read the comica so the loyalists group to this franchise is weak.

@RedeyeJedi…You forgot… Took the leadership off Cyclops, tamed down Wolverine and added a bunch of new mutants just as fillers.

@Euphileuwince I'd say it was a combination of X1 and Blade that kicked off Marvel CBMs. Spider-Man 1 gave a good push too.

MarkCassidy - 10/30/2013, 10:10 AM
Yes, MOS was the first trailer to use that score.

Enphlieuwince, nobody had a [frick]ing notion that Blade was a CBM when it came out, and it did NOTHING to reignite the big budget superhero movie after Batman And Robin put the final nail in its coffin. Whether YOU like it or not, Singer's X-Men showed the studios that there was still life in the superhero genre and it paved the way for evrey other CBM since..so don't give him shit, just say thank you and be on your merry.

Why do the animals who bitch about Nolan and Singer, only claim that they are not faithful to the comics?

If you guys say that their movies don't have good acting, good script, good edition, good score and etc....

Then I would understand more the hate you guys feed.

I hate that people go to movies expecting something. You all should go to movies with your hearts open. Wide-open. Cuz if expect something from a movie, the you're being dishonest with it.

But hey...

If one of the most famous users here(MrSunday) said Singer is "a [frick]ing faggot", and yet, he manages to have his channel on the main page every Sunday here...

Then I think this is ask too much for you fanboys.

TheWolverine08 - 10/30/2013, 10:19 AM
@Wince Thanks lol. But to be honest, I give X1 and Spider Man 1 more credit for the Marvel CBM revival than Blade. Like Ror said, I don't think most people knew Blade was even a comic character after watching the movie. I think they were more focuses on Wesley Snipes (Just like I think RDJ is becoming more popular through his MCU success, not Iron Man......)

Overall, I think X1 and Spider 1 spoke for CBMs and said 'We're here to say bitches."
Enphlieuwince
Enphlieuwince - 10/30/2013, 10:20 AM
Ror, please that's your opinion, and, a poor one at that. Regardless of the impact to the GA, I think "Blade" gave filmmakers their first modern take on how CBMs can work. So, you can mind your manners and be on your merry way.
