We were keeping everything crossed that a trailer for X-Men '97 might be released at Comic-Con, but it feels like Marvel Studios is holding a lot back for September's Disney+ Day. Regardless, some cool shots from the X-Men: The Animated Series revival have been revealed along with a lot of intriguing new details.
For starters, the team will be led by Magneto, with the iconic villain decked out in a costume clearly inspired by what he wore during the first New Mutants run when he became a hero.
Original characters Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Wolverine, Beast, Rogue, Gambit, and Jubilee will all return, though they'll be joined by the likes of Sunspot, Cable, Nightcrawler, Forge, Bishop, and Morph. Some footage was shown to those lucky enough to be in Hall H, with the heroes assembling to square off with some of Bolivar Trask's classic Sentinels.
In terms of villains, it looks like Mister Sinister, Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw, Callisto, and Valerie Cooper are going to be taking aim at the mutants in the wake of Professor X's mysterious disappearance.
That's all we have to share with you for now, but a Fall 2023 premiere on Disney+ has been confirmed (as has a season 2!). The streaming service has also finally put the original X-Men: The Animated Series episodes back in the correct order, something fans have been asking for since the platform launched in 2019.
