X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Announcement Disrupted X-FORCE Film Claims Creator

The merc with a mouth's creator Rob Liefeld took to Twitter today to give hopeful fans an update on the long-rumored X-Force film, claiming that Fox's plans to go ahead with 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse have delayed the film. Hit the jump to check it out!

X-Force creator Rob Liefeld took to Twitter today to respond to a question asked by @actioncomics on the current state of the rumored X-Force film. In the reply Liefeld revealed that plans to release X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016 have disrupted the film's progress:

He went on to say that he didn't believe that the team's original leader, Cable, would be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse, despite playing a large role in numerous storylines involving the villain:

What do you think? Will we ever see Cable and co. take to the big screen or will they be left to reside in the 90s cartoon? Sign off your thoughts on the future of the film in the comments!

They're not the New Mutants anymore! The mysterious Cable has taken Xavier's former students under his wing and transformed them into the pre-emptive strike team known as X-Force. X-Force is a fictional Marvel Comics superhero team, one of several spin-offs of the popular X-Men franchise, and theeponymous subject of the X-Force comic book series. Conceived by writer/illustrator Rob Liefeld, the team was formed in New Mutants, vol. 1 #100 (April 1991) and soon afterwards was featured in its own series.

I'd rather have an X-Force film than and Apocalypse film. And don't let Singer go near X-Force....please Fox....don't do it...

Well, considering how DOFP is doing at the BO, Apocalypse has to be Fox's main priority. It's good as long as X-Force is not scrapped.

Get more than just a shortlist of directors so you can have more than one film being developed at a time... is Matthew Vaughn busy?

I'd take Apocalypse because that is the film that will (fully) get the franchise back on track. DOFP just pointed them in the right direction. I'm guessing X-Force is 2018.

Well if the Fox X-Men movies tell us anything then they will make an X-Force movie and it will star Wolverine, Toad, Blob, Storm, and 6 characters who were in the background of some comic 20 years ago and they may not even have names.

Anyone remember when Liefeld and Snyder had their little spat all over Twitter, and Snyder actually came on here to talk about it? Heh, good times.

If they are going to make an X-Force film, make it R or at least a hard PG film. I just want to see more X-Men films though hehe.

Snyder kept apologising for the whole thing, and I remember telling 'im "mate, don't apologise. I'd buy you a f*cking drink if I could".
