Disney and Lucasfilm released the first trailer for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny earlier this week, and the response thus far has been overwhelmingly positive.

With Logan's James Mangold at the helm, we've been anticipating Indiana Jones 5 being something special, and all signs point to it eventually ranking among 2023's best movies. Harrison Ford's long-awaited return as the iconic adventurer is incredibly exciting, especially as we'll be following him both in the late 1960s and as a younger man decades earlier.

Those de-ageing effects are highlighted in a newly released gallery of stills (first shared by ActioNewz.com), and it's fair to say ILM has now mastered that type of VFX. It's something they've been working on for years, with Star Wars TV shows like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett proving as a great testing ground.

Elsewhere in this gallery, we get to take a look at some of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny's other key characters, along with the various locations Indy and his goddaughter, Helena, will be exploring. Disney will likely hold off on marketing this one for a while now, though we'll surely see plenty more from the hero's long-overdue return as we head into next year.

Joining Ford in the sequel are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Oliver Richters, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen.

The movie is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, is once again composing the score, meaning we can look forward to hearing that classic theme again.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to be released in theaters on June 30, 2023.

It's pretty clear KK will hand the franchise over to Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Next Disney princess.

I don’t think that Young Indy looks as convincing as they think. It “looks good” but also fake at that same time.

I'm surprised so many people disliked the trailer? I loved what I saw.Sure there were a few dodgy cgi moments but the overall tone feels fresh.

when the horns hit I got chills

I think this looks great, really like the look of this very Spielberg which is nice! Until June we won't know how it turns out so might as well hope for the best, but James Mangold is very talented so I have faith! :)

Want a fascist-organization-officer type of actor? Hire Thomas Kretschmann.

Ofcourse it has Nazis, but these stills also get me excited for it digging into some Greek stuff. Even if it's just for the one cave with the traps

To me it’s like all the hate over Force Awakens and Kenobi and it’s like damn people! You’re getting Han Solo! You’re getting Darth VADER taking down ships with the force! Why so mad? As is the case with this - we get to see Indy again! Even if the rumors are true and the ending plays out like they say - I’m sure the movie will be great up until then. These movies weren’t designed to be Oscar winners but fun nods to the serials of the 30s. Just so happened that Raiders was one of the greatest films ever made. Of course they can never live up to it. Enjoy the ride those of you that grew up with Indy as a hero. Enjoy the marketing, the product tie-ins, the toys, the articles etc and let the haters hate.
