INDIANA JONES Television Series In Early Stages Of Development At Disney+

It looks like Indiana Jones 5 may not be the last we see of Indy's world, as it's being reported that Disney is in the very early stages of development on a new Indiana Jones television series.

Variety is reporting that Walt Disney Studios and Lucasfilm are developing a new Indiana Jones television show for Disney+.

It's still very early, so no further details were provided, but both studios have been trying to bring the movie franchise to the small screen for several months now, and have already started meeting with writers.

No word on whether the potential series could be a prequel or a spin-off - or if it will potentially tie into James Mangold's upcoming Indiana Jones 5 - but one thing we can probably safely assume is that Harrison Ford is unlikely to reprise his iconic role as the titular archaeologist since he's already stated that he will retire the character after the upcoming fifth installment.

In addition to this series, the studios are already exploring other avenues to continue the franchise without their leading man, including additional series, new films and other media.

In addition to Ford, the supporting cast of Indiana Jones 5 will consist of Golden Globe-winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Solo: A Star Wars StoryFleabag), BAFTA Film Award-nominee Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange; Hannibal), Thomas Kretschmann (Avengers: Age of UltronPenny Dreadful: City of Angels), Boyd Holbrook (Logan; The Predator), Shaunette Renée Wilson (Black PantherThe Resident), Toby Jones (Captain America: The First AvengerWhat If...?), Antonio Banderas (UnchartedPuss in Boots: The Last Wish), and Oliver Richters (Black Widow; The King's Man).

2x Academy Award-nominee James Mangold (Logan; Ford v Ferrari) helmed the upcoming fifth chapter, taking the reins from 3x Academy Award-winner Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park; Ready Player One), who directed the previous four installments.

Jonathan Kasdan (Solo: A Star Wars StoryThe First Time) - the son of Raiders of the Lost Ark writer Lawrence Kasdan - recently touched up the script after original screenwriter David Koepp (Jurassic Park; Spider-Man) exited the project.

Spielberg will executive produce with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel serving as producers.

Indiana Jones 5 is set to hit theaters on June 30, 2023.

People are going to moan and groan about this as though there wasn't already a Young Indiana Jones show decades ago.

I know they want this role to work like James Bond….but don’t see it working. The character is too tied to Harrison Ford’s performance.

"Early stages of development" meaning it could fall apart like...in the next hour or so.

Instead of using and abusing IP why don't they just make "original" stuff. I mean they are a "movie studio" not just a building that has rights to an IP. Stop making it completely obvious Disney lol.

There’s still time to realize how asinine this is

Didn't Paramount already do this? The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Aired between 92-93.
Disney really have no new ideas in the tank do they?

I'm utterly excited for this next final outing, but after that, leave Indy alone.

I have a bad feeling that Indy is gonna die and they’re gonna replace him with Phoebe Waller-Bridges character for this show.
I was recently rewatching Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and they removed the original opening that had an elderly Indiana Jones in modern time telling the stories.

They even removed the episode that had Harrison Ford return as Indy.

I wonder why?
