DAREDEVIL Showrunners Erik Oleson & Steven S. DeKnight Respond To Disney+ Revival Announcement

Last night, we got word that Marvel Studios was developing a new Daredevil show for Disney+, and the original Netflix series' showrunners have now responded to the news on social media...

Rumors relating to some kind of MCU Daredevil revival have been doing the rounds ever since Charlie Cox was tapped to reprise the role of Matt Murdock for Spider-Man: No Way Home, and last night, we finally got confirmation that The Man Without Fear will return for a new Disney+ series.

It's not quite clear if the show will be a full or semi-reboot, but it sounds like Marvel Studios plans to make a few retcons while keeping certain aspects of the the original Netflix series intact.

The news has been welcomed by fans of the character who felt his  adventures were cut short on the streamer, but how do the showrunners who worked on those (mostly) well-received three seasons feel about this revival?

Season 3 showrunner Erik Oleson Tweeted: "Thrilled to learn that Daredevil lives on! Best cast and best fan base EVER," while season 1's Steven DeKnight responded with: "I personally look forward to the next chapter in DD’s life and wish everyone involved the absolute best!"

When a follower asked if he was worried that the new show wouldn't match-up to the Netflix series, he added: "Not at all! As a lifelong fan of the character, I hope it's even BETTER than what we did on Netflix. Lord knows they'll have a much, much larger budget."

We really didn't expect any bad feelings or bitterness here, especially since it's been four years since Daredevil's cancellation.

Chris Ord and Matt Corman (Covert Affairs, The Brave, Containment) will co-write and executive-produce the Disney+ show, while Cox is expected to return as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen. No word on whether Vincent D'Onofrio will also be back as The Kingpin, but we'd say it's a safe bet after his role in Hawkeye.

As for the Netflix series' supporting cast, we'll just have to wait and see. So far, only Amy Rutberg (Marci Stahl) has responded.
