ANT-MAN: Michael Douglas Has Not Signed On To Star In Any More Marvel Movies

It's usually standard for any actor joining the Marvel movie family to sign a multi-picture deal, but apparently that wasn't the case for Michael Douglas - though he'd be happy to return as long as Hank Pym was allowed to get a little more "bizarre". Check it out...

Is there a chance we won't see Hank Pym again in the MCU? It would seem highly unlikely given the major role the character played in Ant-Man, but even though Michael Douglas sounds like he'd be more than happy to return, he has revealed to Yahoo! that he hasn't signed on for any more movies... not yet, anyway. “I’m not signed up to anything more,” he told the site. “I’ve learned a whole lot and would look forward to more if it comes my way but if not I’ve enjoyed the experience."

It's probably only a formality of course, but if and when Pym does return, it seems Douglas would like to get in on the humor a bit more next time around. “Paul and Adam (McKay’s) re-write bought a lot more humour. I accused Paul of bringing a lot more humour to his character! Michael Pena can take care of himself. I on the other hand was left giving the exposition and the plot, which I was happy to do. In the next one I hope things get a little more bizarre.”

Be sure to have a watch of the video below for more from Michael Douglas.

It's sad that Hank Pym isn't signed up for more movies.... Douglas was awesome in Ant-Man

Also, it sounds like Edgar Wright's Ant-Man may have had less humor....

This is honestly one of the first decisions that Marvel's made that I really, really don't like, I don't like how they've treated Pym in the MCU, also the fact that they took Ultron away from him

Pym and Janet are such amazing characters, I hope they have a sequel or some type of time travel is planned

Doopie Michael was a great Hank Pym in the film. He gives a great performance and brings a lot of heart to the role. Antman was funny and very good id recommend it.

Really sad, Marvel always do the same shit, i only hope one movie flop and then they will stop being such a jerks and bring on just great films again, not because the director or writer wanna to, but because they have to.

I feel lately that Marvel is only making movies because it have to do them and i only have to watch them because i have to.

But i am sick, sick of what they do in Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and now Ant Man, take characters and actors and play with them.

And what makes me more sad is that Iron Man 2 take the place of Ant Man, there should have been Ant Man, holy mother [frick]ing shit, if only Marvel could have done things before in the same way it do now, there maybe everything could be different.

Douglas was fantastic and he's in the entirety of the movie (almost as much as Rudd). It's kind of surreal to see him in a role like that, but he's absolutely perfect.

Not sure if Marvel made Dr. Pym older because they really wanted Michael Douglas or if Douglas was cast because they had planned for an older Pym (which I suspect is the case).

Also, the Civil War end credits scene suggested we would see Hank Pym on Cap's side opposite Tony Stark (based on Falcon's suggestion). This was also alluded to in the beginning of the movie when we see Dr. Pym pushing around Howard Stark (and the rest of Starks power council) since he was against weaponization and war mongering.

Marvel should NOT let Michael Douglas slip away. They should definitely sign him for as long as Douglas is can stay.

I believe Hank Pym being old was an Edgar Wright choice, not because he was bad and evil, only because for him the original Hank Pym was the guy that beat his wife to the ground and make her shit and he dont wanna to show that.

Also he wanna to show his story, the master and student story, the Hank Pym teaching Scott Lang how to change his ways and become something better.

But i am glad of what Marvel give to us, only a little more here and there and the movie could have been a 8/10.

I didn't really think Pym would appear in another Marvel movie unless they make a second Ant-man, but of course I would love to see him in more movies, scenes with him and Tony Stark could be gold.

Douglas was really good, definitely a highlight of the movie, I'll stop writing now, to avoid Spoilers, haha. Hope we see more Pym

I really hope he returns at some point, I really liked him in the movie! It would be great to see his Hank Pym interact with the likes of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner.

And aside from all that he has completely impressed me by being part of probably the greatest piece of promotion I've ever seen for any movie ever:

Thanks, I didn't know that at all. That explains a lot actually. I think it turned out for the best then. I think Douglas' Pym is my favourite Marvel Hero.

@Doopie

Sorry about slipping too much info.

I finally got to see this on Sunday... He was outstanding in the film, a kick-ass Hank Pym and it made me so want to see young Douglas on those missions with Janet. I appreciate that they designed the costumes in a way that they can do such flashbacks in the future and just have Douglas do the voice work, should they so desire.

My one wish for the Infinity War is that the use of the Time Gem lets them bring everyone, from all eras, back to fight... And so we get to see Hank and Jan with the other Avengers.

When you saw the Edgar Wright cut of Ant-Man two years ago at a special screening and are bored with the theatrical cut.

I really didn't like how every sentence had to have a punch line, it's what took me out of the movie.
I had a very very fun time but that was it.

Way too focused on humour and not enough on character development and story.

Douglas was a GREAT Pym, [frick]in' haters when he was cast, where's your Kentucky Fried Colonel now? (Joe ;) - oh, forgot, you and Nom are haters of Marvel movies now...your opinions on Ant-Man are void...

It's most likely Douglas's agent who favored renegotiation each and every time. That's more potential $$ and no contractual obligation.
