After previously being played by both Abby Ryder Fortson in the first two Ant-Man movies and Emma Fuhrmann in Avengers: Endgame, Kathryn Newton (Freaky) took over as Scott Lang's daughter, Cassie, in the recent Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
In Peyton Reed's threequel, Cassie donned an "Ant-Man" suit of her own, fighting alongside her father as Stature (though she doesn't officially take the name in the movie). Then, in The Marvels' pre-credits scene, we see Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) recruiting Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) for a new team.
After (presumably) convincing the archer to join the "Young Avengers," Khan implies that Cassie is next on her list with, "did you know Ant-Man has a daughter?"
The Young Avengers (assuming that's the name they go with) project still hasn't been officially announced, but The Marvels ending clearly suggests that something is in the works. While chatting to Screen Rant at the Sundance Film Festival, Newton was asked about her character's MCU future. She remained tight-lipped about any potential Young Avengers plans, but did say she would like to see Cassie "on a team."
"I’d like to see her on a team. I feel like for me when I was in high school on my golf team, championship ring right here, I was obsessed with being number one. I wanted to be the team captain, and my coach was like, No captain, that’s not how we do it here. We’re all equal, and be on a team and win and lose together. So I feel like that’s something that everyone can relate to, is having to be together on the team on the rise and be together in trenches. So, I’d like to see some more of that."
Newton has several movies on the horizon, including Lisa Frankenstein, Winner, and Abigail, which you can check out the trailer for below.
Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.
Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O'Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar.
The MCU threequel is now available to stream on Disney+.
