Avengers: Age of Ultron was one of my most anticipated movies of 2015, and I’m happy to say that it lived up to the hype. I found the heavily hyped follow-up to be an absolute blast, with a fantastic blend of bombastic action, consistent humour and an added tinge of darkness, plus a wealth of moments that, as a comic book fan, made me extraordinarily happy. I’ve put together a list (in chronological order) of the five best scenes in the film that did just that.

1. Attack on the Hydra Base

Age of Ultron kicks off in a very different way to its predecessor; where the first film took its time establishing the threat and bringing the team together, here our heroes are already assembled and in combat. Whedon drops us into a breakneck opening sequence that is an absolute rush, as the Avengers raid Baron von Strucker’s Hydra outpost in Sokovia. After the events of The Winter Soldier, I was curious as to whether this film would feature the team cleaning up Hydra’s mess, and I was glad to see that was the case. We get some great interaction between the six heroes, plus an amazing tracking shot. Reintroducing us to the characters while showing off their new skills and tricks, it’s a frantic, but fantastic, extended intro.

2. Enter the Hulkbuster

Everybody was looking forward to the colossal smackdown between the Hulk and Iron Man (kitted out in a glorious fan-favourite armour), and thankfully the fight delivered in spades. Unleashing the Green Goliath on a destructive rampage through the streets of Seoul (thanks to some mind-games from Wanda Maximoff), Whedon creates a lot of carnage but keeps it personal; we feel every single hit as Tony Stark attempts to take down one of his greatest friends.

3. Behold… the Vision!

Up until lately, the Vision has been one of the most secretive aspects of this sequel, with the character being used sparingly in the official marketing material (except for the wealth of concept and promotional art that’s surfaced). And that secrecy beforehand makes the iconic android one of the best things in Age of Ultron. His explosive reveal towards the final act is a joy, as the artificial intelligence J.A.R.V.I.S. gains a great red, green and yellow form. Paul Bettany does a fantastic job, acting as the paragon for Ultron’s renegade, and as the smoke cleared and the Vision stood before Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, I was a very happy man.

4. Fighting Together

I found the third act to be extremely satisfying, and the strongest section of the final battle to be the team assembling together to fight an onslaught of Ultron bots. As Sokovia is pushed further towards Earth’s atmosphere, our heroes are beginning to feel outmatched and outgunned. With Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver joining the original six Avengers, however, we get to witness an amazing combination of powers and abilities attempt to stop the film’s most formidable force. I’m incredibly happy to see the direction and cinematography really step up in this sequel, and this scene is a prime example.

5. Thanos Takes Matters Into His Own Hands

There was a heavy amount of speculation as to what a post or mid-credits scene in the movie would entail — would we see Captain Marvel? Spider-Man? Black Panther? Well, in the end, it didn’t set up any of those MCU newcomers. Instead, we’re treated to a short, but sweet, Infinity War teaser, with Josh Brolin’s cosmic big bad Thanos retrieving the Infinity Gauntlet. In truth, it’s not much, but it’s still amazing to get a glimpse at the bigger picture looming on the horizon.

Honourable Mention: New Avengers Assemble

Once the threat of Ultron is extinguished, a new Avengers facility is unveiled, and a new team is formed. Iron Man, Hawkeye and Thor depart (and the Hulk goes missing), but of course, new members take their place. Captain America brings together Black Widow, the Vision, War Machine, Falcon (sporting great new duds) and redesigned, more comic book-y Scarlet Witch (who looks amazing, by the way), and as Chris Evans goes to declare the team’s famous battle cry, the film cuts to the titles. Whedon, you tease!

Well, there’s my list! I’m certain that you guys will have other moments that stood out to you, and I’m curious to know what they are. Feel free to leave your thoughts on this article, the film, and whatever else in the usual place. It'd also be great if you could hit that red glove if you enjoyed reading. Final question: when will we hear the words "Avengers, Assemble!" spoken on screen? (My guess is in Infinity War.)

Loved all these scenes, except my favourite scene, without a doubt, is the new Avengers... Hearing Captain America say the line, you know it, was so epic.

Great article, thumbed.

The slow mo assembly fight towards the end of the movie is among my top favourites, however, I gotta give it to the Vision holding up Thor's hammer which came out out of nowhere and completely baffled The Avengers and the audience. It was an amazing moment

The glove is sadly just a button without purpose now, articles don't make main automatically anymore

I think we've all been told by DC fanboys and general haters that if this movie isn't perfect, it sucks. We need to quit thinking this way. Because there is not one perfect movie in existence. Hateful people have made those of us that enjoy these films feel vulnerable and we shouldn't. We should love the movie because it was awesome. It doesn't matter if it was better or worse than any other CBM. The fact remains that a lot of people enjoyed the film, and for good reason: it brought the Avengers to life again.

Thanos's scene was the low point for me. Favourite scene was the Vision scene then Hawkeye with SW, then the Klaw scene, then the first scene.

I loved the ending scene where Vision confronts the last remaining Ultron drone and has final words with Ultron it was a nice moment for fans of the comics. Also Vision was boss they gave him all his powers flight, density control, and the forehead beam it was all epic. Also we finally have the confirmation that the scepter was the mind gem and that the T.H.A.N.O.S. acronym is real.

T. Tesseract
H. unknown
A. Aether
N. unknown
O. Orb
S. Scepter

Personally I loved the end credits maybe because I just love Thanos but seeing more of the herald of death and the mad titan always makes me happy. Seeing him put on the Infinity Gauntlet was just awesome. All the scenes were awesome and I loved the movie

My only complaint about the movie would be you could tell this is the edited version and the pacing was lightning fast at points especially the beginning. I do hope the deleted scenes will be on the blu ray and I can watch Whedon's full movie.

Also so much redemption for Hawkeye in this movie and Renner really got to shine and showcase my favorite comic book archer. So glad we got to see more from Hawkeye and really while I hate QS was killed because I would love to see more of him because he was also awesome. The list of characters that could die would come down to Hawkeye and QS because the other characters are too big or important and personally I wanted Hawkeye to survive he is just a more awesome character.

I definitely agree about hype levels and stuff. I guess between TWS and GOTG being so good, AOU should have been phenomenal, and I get that side of it, too. I'm sure you're not one of those vulnerable fanboys who takes the criticisms too hard, but I just keep getting this feeling in the CBM community lately, that if it doesn't live up to TDK's legacy or TWS's level, it's not a good movie at all. This specific mindset is what will start killing the CBM world.
For forever, I thought it would be that CBMs begin to get boring and clichéd to the point of not caring for most people. That's what I thought would kill CBMs. But lately, the most dedicated community, the ones pushing, they've stooped to a new level of distaste for any movie that isn't Oscar worthy. It's tearing us apart and making it harder for CBMs to work. Hype levels dropping will soon equal caring less, and we can't afford that.
I, too, found flaws in the film and hope that CBMs retain their level of greatness, but I can't let others' mindsets of inferiority or superiority get to me. I just love CBMs.

I gotta say, I am phsyically incapable of saying anything bad about Marvel right now. I [frick]ing loved Age of Ultron. It was just [frick]ing fantastic!

So THETA Protocol is the Hellicarrier Hill and Fury use to save the Sokovians? Coulson told Koenig if they failed in Puerto Rico to initiate Theta Protocol. All the bunk beds are for refugees. If the Kree Temple had ended up being some sort of weapon of mass destruction capable of destroying Puerto Rico and they had failed to prevent it going off, Hill/Fury/Koenig/SHIELD would have launched a secret hellicarrier, capable of evacuating all of San Juan.

Agreed.

I really hope Infinity War pt 1 is a loose adaption of Thanks Quest. That is one of my favorite stories.

These are some great scenes. A couple of honourable mentions,

1) Birth of Vision (Using the mind gem was a good idea IMO)
2) Quicksilver vs Cap (that headshot hurt)
3) Im vs Ultron
3) IM, Vision, Thor taking out Ultron (I jizzed everywhere)
4) SW after she "feels" QS die (she took out everything in a 10-20 ft radius

One big thing that was missing for me. Hulk never got a chance to really give it to Ultron. That would've been epic.

I also liked the AOS tie-in. It wasn't too much like it had been before. The plot from the show literally lead directly into the movie. It was never forced IMO.

[frick] yeah, awesome.

So many awesome scenes....

The end with Fury and the helicarrier
Klaw, the twins and Ultron
The party scene
Cap and Stark going at it
Cap and Ultron going at it while they steal Vision's body
The Ending

etc, etc....

Can't wait to see it again!!

For me I would go with.....

1st Hulkbuster Vs The Hulk
2nd Avengers Hydra attack tracking shot
3rd Avengers Vs Ultron Final Battle
4th Birth of The Vision
5th The Avengers Vs Ultron,Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver

I love all those scenes, the conversation between the Vision and the last Ultron bot was beautiful.

I have to mention this one scene (because I don't think anyone else will):

When Quicksilver runs into a building and tells everyone to evacuate and they ignore him and he runs back in with an assault rifle and shoots it in the air to scare everyone away.

Along with Scarlet Witch entrancing people to walk out of their homes.

I really really love the heroic parts of the movie.

I really like Thor and Cap working together that was badass. The new Avengers was freaking awesome. Also i notice that in Thors vision Hemidall told Thor to show his full power. So that meant Thor been holding back this whole time.

P.s I told all of you that Lokis scepter was the mind gem. I just wish it wasnt yellow.

Ulysses Klaue:" You know what I fear? Cuttlefish! Fish deep in the sea, with lights and big teeth. I saw it in a documentary. It was terrifying."

So many amazing moments in this movie. But my favorite would have to be Thor, Vision and Tony attacking Ultron.

All those scenes were absolutely spectacular! I really loved the new Avengers assemble! Hearing Cap saying the line partially was still incredible.
