Robert Downey Jr. Looks Forward To 'Iron Man' Future Up To AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Movies
The Avengers: Age of Ultron star was just honored at the Britannia awards in L.A, where talked a bit about his future as Iron Man, and received praise from Mark Ruffalo & Jon Favreau. Check it out!
"It's a commitment but I love being a part of it," Robert Downey Jr. told News Media Gallery yesterday of his extensive role as Iron Man in the recently-announced Captain America: Civil War as well as the two-part Avengers: Infinity War movies. "She (his wife Susan Downey) knows I get happy when I get to put on the beard and go out and make faces with Chris Evans and listen to Kevin Feige get excited. She knows I am going to come back in a good mood," he added. During another interview while on the red carpet of the BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards, Entertainment Tonight had asked Downey how many times will we have seen him play Tony Stark once his contract lets up. "You know, it may verge on double digits," he replied, "but it will probably wind up being a little shy." Counting his cameo in The Incredible Hulk, Downey will have portrayed Marvel's Armored Avenger nine times, and that's only if he appears in both Avengers: Infinity War Part One in 2018 and Part Two that following year. Anyhow, the ET interviewer had then expressed a desire to see Downey as Iron Man 15 or 20 times total, which caused both Robert and his wife to gasp, "Oh jeez," laughing. Later during the actual BAFTA awards ceremony, Robert Downey was given the Stanley Kubrick Britannia for excellence in film, and during his acceptance speech, he talked about retiring ("not that I have been idling until my Marvel contract runs out," he said) before giving a second little Marvel plug: "The season, you know is upon us," he said of the Academy Awards, "and I’m told it is unlikely I will be nominated – four years ahead of time for my absolutely stellar performance in Avengers: Infinity Wars Part I, but Bobby Duvall’s got a strong shot for this year’s The Judge." Anyhow, reporters also caught up with the Incredible Hulk/Bruce Banner actor Mark Ruffalo, who was also being honored at the Britannia awards, as well as Avengers: Age of Ultron executive producer Jon Favreau.
