Here's Every Superhero Movie Trailer You Should Expect To See In 2018 (And When They're Most Likely To Debut)
2018 is shaping up to be an exciting year for superhero movie fans and we take a look here at which trailers for 2018 and 2019's releases you should expect to see and when they're going to debut online.
There are a lot of great superhero movies on the way in 2018 and plenty of extremely exciting releases hitting theaters in 2019 as well. While we already know when all of those will reach the big screen, something we're all anxious to find out is when our first (or even second) look at these will debut.
The release of trailers for Marvel and DC Comics movies has become an event, with specific premiere dates and times building hype alongside trailer teases, posters, and various other sneak peeks.
Using what we know about each of the movies coming over the next couple of years, we've compiled a list of when the trailers for the likes of Avengers: Infinity War, Venom, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and more will ultimately debut both online and in theaters. Needless to say, you should be excited because a lot of these are coming much sooner than you probably all expected...
Aquaman
Fans are understandably anxious for a first look at Aquaman and while the movie is only slightly less than a year away, it could come sooner than we think. Tomb Raider, Ready Player One, and Rampage are three perfect releases to pair this teaser with in March/April, especially as it's a pretty unexciting looking summer for the studio. Will they hold off until Comic-Con, though?
The New Mutants
Our first look at The New Mutants made it clear that this will be a superhero movie unlike any other but a lot of fans were disappointed that we didn't get to see any mutant powers on display (as a result, it looked like a generic teen horror movie). April isn't far away and the next trailer for this movie being attached to another teen movie in Maze Runner: The Death Cure this month seems highly likely.
Venom
Sony's 2018 slate is more than a little underwhelming and with shooting on Venom well underway, it's hard to say when we might get our first look at this one. The trailer being attached to horror movie Slenderman in May wouldn't be a huge surprise, though, and my guess is it will be online in March.
Deadpool 2
The first teaser for Deadpool 2 was as bizarre as you might expect and featured only seconds of footage from the sequel. We're now long overdue for a proper sneak peek and Fox would probably be smart to pair that with Black Panther, Red Sparrow, or, if they really want to wait that long, The New Mutants. With that in mind, expect to get your first proper look at this movie in the next few months.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse
The only major kids movie coming from Sony over the summer is Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, so a new look at Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse arriving then definitely adds up. As that's set to be released in July, it would coincide nicely with Comic-Con too, ensuring there's plenty of buzz.
Black Panther
The final trailer for Black Panther is expected to debut next week and with its release date looming, it makes sense that Marvel would give its first 2018 movie one last push. We've seen surprisingly little from this one (which is no bad thing) and so the spotlight being put on Erik Killmonger would be good.
Teen Titans Go! To The Movies
There's not an awful lot of hype surrounding this one as it's primarily aimed at youngsters but with Paddington 2 set to be released by Warner Bros. in a couple of weeks, expect this trailer fairly soon.
Avengers: Infinity War
We finally got the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War last year and common sense says that our next look will come with Black Panther in February whether that's after the movie similar to how The Avengers was promoted after The First Avenger or in a more traditional manner beforehand.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix
The first images from X-Men: Dark Phoenix recently surfaced so the marketing campaign for this movie will no doubt begin soon. While it's feasible that a trailer could be released at some point in the next few months, it's thought that it will have an extensive post-production process because of the huge amount of CGI so don't be shocked to see this held back until around June when Deadpool 2 hits.
Ant-Man and The Wasp
Aside from one official image, Ant-Man and The Wasp remains a mystery to us but that should change before too long. A teaser with Black Panther is probably wishful thinking as Disney won't want to distract us too much from both that and Infinity War. So, bank on this one coming late April/Early May.
Shazam
With Shazam hitting theaters next April, the first trailer coming in front of Aquaman would be perfect timing but I would expect it to be released online perhaps the month before. Shooting starts next month so official images can't be too far away and a brief teaser at Comic-Con isn't too far-fetched.
Silver & Black
Assuming this movie is still happening, we'll start seeing a lot more from this one very soon. A trailer being attached to Venom is highly likely but depending on how quickly shooting takes place, a sneak peek could come even sooner than that. Personally, I'd bet that a cast photo will hit at Comic-Con.
Gambit
Despite the Disney/Fox deal, the plan is still for Gambit to be made a reality and it's on track to be released next February. Deadpool 2 is too early for us to see a trailer but a Comic-Con premiere adds up and if Fox decides against releasing it online then, it will probably accompany X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
Captain Marvel
Ant-Man and The Wasp will have been released by the time Comic-Con rolls around, so Marvel turning its attention to Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 there makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, I wouldn't bank on a trailer for either being released online at that time because rough footage at best will likely be shown. However, a Captain Marvel trailer will inevitably hit by the end of 2017! October, maybe?
Untitled Avengers: Infinity War Sequel
Given how long Avengers 4 has been shooting, it could be that we'll see a preview of some sort at the end of Infinity War. Honestly, though, that's wishful thinking and I wouldn't be remotely surprised if Marvel makes us wait until either Comic-Con (again, that's a very big maybe) or November/December.
