In this editorial, as stated above, I'll be talking about the minor inconsistencies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, among honorable mentions that make these films (for at least) worth while.
The Other's Voice
The Other was one of my favorite characters in
The Avengers, he was intimidating, menacing, and really gave Loki a chill unlike any other, simply because of Thanos. The vocal FX on Alexis' voice really made the character truly terrifying to me, with only his actual voice being present when he states "
You think you know pain?" which really (for me) made the character something truly special.
In
Guardians of the Galaxy, Alexis' voice had very little modification to his voice, there was no lower octave to his vocal FX and that truly made me very sad since, as I've stated above, that's what made the character truly remarkable in The Avengers. It was something that I truly missed that made him such a great character. I'm assuming they didn't have the budget to do such a task with his voice, but it was a real let down for me.
Thor's Beard
In
Thor, The God of Thunder rocked a golden, thick beard. I know this is something nitpicky, but it's something that made him truly, for me, the God of Thunder. In films to follow, Hemsworth sported a much darker beard, and his natural eyebrow color, as well as a new 'wig'. Really takes me out of the character. As well as his thickness from Thor dwindled down in subsequent films as well.
(
Honorable mention:
Thor's Helmet) Fan's have been wanting Chris Hemsworth to wear his helmet since the end of the first Thor film, and I agree! Bring back the helmet!
Thanos' Look
In
The Avengers, Thanos' Look was more comic book accurate than I've ever seen in any comic book film thus far. He actually looked
REAL and not some CGI rendering of Thanos. The look of his eyes, and the red around them really made him a scary figure.
In Guardians of the Galaxy, Thanos' look is altered to a lighter-purple shade, still keeps the blue eyes, but looses the red outside of the blue. He also has more of a CGI look to him, and you can tell he's a CGI character, though I feel through the advancement of CGI tech that his appearance in future films (Avengers: Infinity War) his CGI will truly be refined and perfected, as the Hulk's has been in The Avengers and (hopefully) Avengers: Age of Ultron. (side-note: I know that Kevin had made this change for Thanos, but I (personally) don't know why, I also know that the Thanos in The Avengers was only a template for future films)
Honorable Mention (The Good!)
If there's one thing I've enjoyed about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's the evolution of Tony Stark's armor and the evolution of J.A.R.V.I.S.' voice. Throughout the films, starting with Iron Man, up to Iron Man 3, The evolution of J.A.R.V.I.S. throughout the films have been welcomed, and I really enjoy how human they've made him. It's a real treat. All of the effects laid down on Iron Man and J.A.R.V.I.S. in The Avengers' really elevated the characters for me, and made it seems as comic-book accurate as it could've been for me. J.A.R.V.I.S. from Iron Man 1, to Iron Man 3 became more human, and that's a real treat for me.
Ok, well that's my editorial, sound off in the comments below with your thoughts! I hope you've enjoyed my write up.
