Emily VanCamp Briefly Talks Return As 'Sharon Carter' In CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
Without giving anything away beyond when she starts shooting, Revenge star Emily VanCamp talks very briefly about reprising her Captain America: The Winter Soldier role in Civil War. Check it out!
Before Marvel Studios announced the official synopsis and full cast for Captain America: Civil War and also that principal photography is currently underway, Entertainment Weekly spoke briefly with Emily VanCamp about her return as Sharon Carter aka Agent 13. "I’m actually heading to start filming next week," said the actress. "I can’t tell you where, when, how—I don’t want to get in trouble! [Laughs] But I’m really excited about it. It’s going to be fun, it’s gonna be pretty epic."
With so many supporting characters in Captain America: Civil War, there is no word on how big of a role Sharon Carter will have this time around. She wasn't referenced in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but it was implied at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier that Sharon will be joining the CIA following the downfall of S.H.I.E.L.D.. So, perhaps that new career path will be explanded upon when we see her again in Civil War. Also, given we don't know if Steve Rogers is aware that she's related to Peggy Carter, that's something else we might see play out in the 2016 Marvel threequel.
Furthermore, It's well known that, in the aftermath of the Civil War comic book arc, Steve Rogers met his demise at the sharpshooting hands of Crossbones and a brainwashed Sharon Carter. That pivotal moment may not play out the exact same way, if at all, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but something of that nature could be what directors Anthony & Joe Russo have in store for Sharon Carter maybe in Avengers: Infinity War if not in Captain America: Civil War. What do you think?
Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain. Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, and Martin Freeman, Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6, 2016.
