Production continues on the HBO Max-exclusive Batgirl movie in Glasgow, Scotland, and these latest set videos give us another glimpse of Leslie Grace in full costume as Barbara Gordon narrowly escapes a blazing inferno set by the villainous Firefly (Brendan Fraser).

We've already seen photos of Babs recovering after the attack, but these videos give is a much better look at the hero and what appears to be Jacob Scipio's character getting clear of a smouldering building just before it explodes. The second video shows the aftermath, as Batgirl approaches a figure on the ground and seemingly interrogates him for information.

We still don't know why Firefly is targeting specific buildings, but there's speculation that it might have something to do with Tony Bressi (Scipio?).

Check out the videos below, and keep an eye out for updates.

Batgirl will also star J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon, and it's also been confirmed that Michael Keaton's Batman will appear.

Loki composer Natalie Holt recently announced that she's signed on to work on the movie's score, while Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee and also worked on Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned the most recent draft of the script.

The HBO Max movie is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. No release date has been announced.

I was under the impression this was to be apart of The Batman, and she was suppose to be the daughter of Jeffrey Wrights Gordan..

@Waddles @Matchesz - Nah, it would have been weird to have Batgirl after a Year Two Batman with one film. Besides, Barbara had canonically been adopted for a while, part of an attempt to make Gordon younger than his classic, white mustached image.

WB does a lot of wrong things, but I see their reasoning on this: a younger Batman on his own in the standalone Reevesverse and an older Batman with a young Bat-Family to mentor in the New 52 equivalent, post-The Flash reboot DCEU. Like Crisis or Flashpoint, it gives WB an opportunity to pick or abandon any prior elements, hence keeping JK Simmons as Gordon because he was good, everyone liked him, and Pat Hingle is dead, while Affleck doesn't want to play the role anymore and Keaton does.

I dig the costume! Put Keaton in everything and I'll watch it lol

The biggest missed opportunity of the DCEU is not having cast Johnny Depp in a villain role. But now his Hollywood career is pretty much over, though he is getting another chance with french cinema.

@Amuro - Warner asked him to resign from Fantastic Beasts 3 so I'm pretty sure that the studio doesn't want to be connected with him.

@Amuro

Depp hasn’t turned in a great performance since Black Mask…and even then, I think a lot of the makeup was doing most of the work.

@Amuro - Johnny Depp was my original choice for Riddler in the Nolan films

@MV081199 -

Yeah. But the studio is now associated with the other half of the scandal who is seen by the public in a much worse light than Depp with more people supporting him over Heard. Time will tell of they were right or if this is another dumb decision from Warner executives.

@regularmovieguy -

Honestly, considering the prestigious historic figure he is going to portray, the movie he has signed for (an art film) and the acclaimed director he is going to work with, he has to be at the top of his game. He is not going to have a better second chance than this to start over since Hollywood doesn't want him anymore.

@Amuro

I’m unfamiliar with the director…I know a little about her history with Luc Besson but that’s about it.

I’m curious about it. If it’s worthwhile it will definitely turn heads. Feel like the guy has substance abuse issues and I don’t know if he’s addressed that yet but it could be keeping him from getting another Hollywood studio role.

Along with the terrible press from the Amber Heard trial.

@regularmovieguy -

The terrible press, it depends where but it might indeed prevent him from getting another job in Hollywood (that and his substance abuse). In Europe, he remains quite popular and the press has a more neutral stance about the Amber Heard trial (except maybe in the UK where sensationalism is more common in mainstream media), aknowledging that the relationship was quite toxic in itself and that Heard was far from a nice person too.

@Waddles - I think Cass is best girl because I really like the contrast between her stoic dry personality and her attempts to be a "regular" girl and all the quirkiness that comes with it.

Batgirls is probably going to be the best Bat book of the year, if not best cape book period.

Perhaps Firefly suffers terrible burns. To ease Firefly's suffering, the doctors cauterize his nerves. The act of setting fire and staying close to the fire is an attempt to feel again.

I’m surprised at how many pics and videos have already come from this movie, it’s like the studio and director just doesn’t care. 🤷‍♂️

@4thMaster - It's almost like they are intentional leaks. If not, someone is looking to get fired. No way some rando catches that kind of footage.

@inkniron - If it's not intentional, those have to be apartment buildings they're filming next too and can't do shit about people filming from their house.

@inkniron

They’re shooting on location. There’s going to be press, there’s going to be people in apartments with their phones out.

Comes with the territory of not shooting on a sound stage.
