BATGIRL Set Photos Show Barbara Gordon's Red Hair And Reveal Lex Luthor's DCEU Status

The latest photos from the set of Batgirl have revealed our best look yet at Leslie Grace's Barbara Gordon (red hair and all), while we also learn more about Lex Luthor's current status in the DCEU...

Batgirl is currently shooting in Glasgow, Scotland, and the latest set photos reveal even more intriguing details about the new DC Extended Universe. The Flash is expected to hit the reset button on this world, and that seemingly includes Lex Luthor's current status quo.

While he was imprisoned in Arkham Asylum after unleashing Doomsday, Luthor later escaped, and, depending on which cut of Justice League you consider "canon," either formed the Injustice League or sent Deathstroke after Batman after revealing the Caped Crusader's secret identity. In Batgirl, however, he's back behind bars...and not necessarily played by Jesse Eisenberg!

That magazine cover is pretty ambiguous, leaving Warner Bros. the option to recast the role.

Elsewhere, we get our best look yet at Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon. Rocking the red hair from the comic books, the In The Heights star looks like a perfect pick to take on the role of Batgirl's lead. In some shots shared by Digital Spy (you'll have to head over there to check them out as the photos are copyrighted), we also learn that Ethan Kai is seemingly playing Barbara Gordon's boyfriend.

Dick Grayson/Nightwing becomes romantically involved with Batgirl in the comic books, but there's nothing to necessarily say that is who Kai is playing in this corner of the DCEU.

Would be the perfect opportunity to bring in an older Lex. Maybe his dad. Easy fix

@bkmeijer - The multiverse has given the easiest opportunity to retcon actors / roles. They just dont want to lol

@Dredd97 - Lex Luthor, yep. It’s crazy how this kind of stuff slips through the cracks of major productions. Hope it’s not a sign of a bigger problem

@blacksocksdaily - Not only the typo but if we were to live in a world where Lex Luthor exists, would the news refer to him as "villain", just feels weird.

OmegaBlack13 - 1/14/2022, 11:24 AM
@Urubrodi - My thoughts exactly. Honestly even certain characters using the word “villain” feels weird.

@OmegaBlack13 - @Urubrodi -
I get what you are saying but it is a tabloid, so using sensationalized language is right up their alley. Sell those rags!
Himura

@blacksocksdaily - There's hundreds of people working on props and costuming. A random tabloid on the news stand probably wasnt intended to be shown so prominently in the film anyways so I doubt they cared that much. Most of these just end up being throwaway easter eggs for youtubers to make content nowadays.

@blacksocksdaily - It's the "Gotham Tattler". I wouldn't be surprised by the fake news and typos.

@Urubrodi - You probably won't even see these in the movie's background, as things in the foreground will be moving so fast.

There is another billionaire villain called Lex in the DCEU?!
I know of Lex Luthor but Lex Luther must be a new character...

@kider2 - Let's just pretend Lex Luther is a real thing and that we'll never see Lex Luthor/Jesse Eisenberg again. I like this idea

@kider2 - this seems like a Mandela effect, because Ive seen waaaayyy too many people call him Lex Luther instead of Lex Luthor. No kidding.

Well looks like some of the events from Snyder's films are still canon which means hopefully Henry Cavill is still Superman.

"Lex Luther"

ScaryTerry
ScaryTerry - 1/14/2022, 9:50 AM
@IcePyke - It IS misspelled! I didn’t even notice! WB needs a unifying entity to head their DC division badly (a Kevin Fiege).

@IcePyke - That's a good sign...

dagenspear

@ScaryTerry - Yeah. If we had Feige then we could get perfect continuity like the Spider-Man Homecoming being 8 years after Avengers, even though Civil War had it said it's been 8 years since Tony announced himself as Iron Man.

Why couldn’t they do that for Michelle Jones Watson?

@HulkisHorny - why couldnt they just name her Mary Jane Watson?
Himura

@HulkisHorny - ....because she's not Mary Jane?
HulkisHoly
HulkisHoly - 1/14/2022, 1:03 PM
@Himura -

But she literally is. It’s been confirmed in NWH. Her last name is Watson but she goes by Jones, clearly meaning she changed her name. Her family is probably in the witness protection program or something. MJ’s dad being a bad person has precedence in the comics.

Sure, she would be MJ’s made up cousin, Michelle Watson. But is that really what you believe?

@HulkisHorny - she's a variant
