BATMAN: HUSH Star Jason O'Mara On Batman's Legacy & Why Fans Should Give Robert Pattinson A Chance - EXCLUSIVE

Batman: Hush is now available on digital and physical media platforms, and we recently had the opportunity to talk to star Jason O'Mara. He's been playing the Dark Knight since 2014's Justice League: War and has now starred in a total of ten animated movies as the iconic DC Comics hero.

During our conversation, I asked Jason what it feels like to be among the elite group of actors to have played Batman and as well as reflecting on what it's been like to take on the role, he explained why he believes that fans need to give Robert Pattinson a chance ahead of The Batman's release in 2021.

"I've never really looked at it like that to be honest. I've just taken it one movie at a time and it's one potato, two potato and now there now a canon of work seven or eight years later. I'll tell you what, though, it's an absolute honour and privilege to be asked back every time I do get asked. I don't know if it puts me in any sort of pantheon and I don't really look at it that way.

"I think what's key in all of this for any actor playing Batman, including this new fella Robert Pattinson who's got his work cut out, and by the way, I think everyone should give the kid a chance, but at the same time I think what's really important is that we're all just there to serve this character. Batman was around long before I was born and he'll be around long after I'm gone.

"You wear the Bat symbol for a short amount of time and all you can really hope to do is leave it in a slightly better place than where you found it and that's it. You move on and so any opportunity you get, you just do the best work that you can and it's up for others to decide whether it's any good or not."

That's a great answer, and you can read more of his thoughts on this (including why playing Batman is similar to Doctor Who) in our full interview later today.

Most fans have given Pattinson a chance since he landed the role of the Dark Knight, but there are those who are completely against the casting decision despite the fact that they haven't even seen a photo of him decked out in the cape and cowl yet!

What do you guys think about O'Mara's take on the legacy of playing Batman?

Batman: Hush comes to DVD, Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray Steelbook And Blu-Ray Mini Fig Edition August 12.

Are they still trying to create fake controversy over the Pattinson thing?

Pretty sure the fan community has been not only supportive, but it was their idea.

The fake controversy is what killed Ghostbusters 0.5, don't let it kill Batman too.

@fadersdream sucking is what killed the last "Ghostbusters" movie. The script was garbage and Paul Feig didn't understand the comedy of the Ghostbusters films. Wonderful actresses. Horrible film.

@jumpingtheshark - Sorry, I was referencing an actual thing that happened. I didn't mean it as a critique of the film.

Sony had neutral and even positive comments deleted, and left the more childish ones. They created a false narrative in an effort to generate buzz for the film.

@fadersdream - What truly killed the crappy Ghost Busters reboot was the cast actively insulting the fan base and anyone who wasn't interested. Seriously Captain Marvel showed that even if a film is surrounded by "controversy" a film can be successful

The Hush cartoon is terrible. Just wretched. The second worst DC Animated feature next to The Killing Joke.

Pattinson is an upgrade over Affleck but he is still a cheap imitation to the GOAT...

@Forthas - Why not wait for the movie to come out, he might do something different than Bale did, it's not like Bale, Keaton and West are the same. Best Batman is Conroy and now he is going to get to play the character in live action.
In terms of live action Bruce Waynes at the moment, this is probably an unpopular choice but I have to say it might be David Mazouz. Say what you will about Gotham, personally I love it, it embraced the goofiness while still knowing when to hold back and be serious and it was the most comic bookie show on tv, it even looked like a comic book. Now back to Mazouz.......most while most of the Batmen have been great, they tend to ignore Bruce Wayne's intelligence and Detective skills, usually they just have his tech do all that stuff, and they focus on his fighting skills. Luckily Matt Reeves is going to put focus on those skills, but as of right now, Mazouz's Bruce is the only live action adaption to do that. Mazouz might be young but you can buy him as the smartest guy in the room, and as a great detective, the show focused more on his beliefs and ideals than any batman film

@dracula - Is your real name David Mazouz? Just kidding! I disagree about the detective skills for the Nolan Batman. While it was not a focus of the character there were elements of it such as when Batman investigated how they were smuggling the fear toxin in Gotham, how he determined where Joker would strike at the Mayor by examining the shattered bullet, and how he pieced together that it was Ras Al Ghul's child who escaped from the pit (even though he was wrong about who that child was?)

I never really watched Gotham but I will state that the closer to real world a film is to me the better!

Pattinson will be way better than Affleck.

How anyone thought Affleck would be a good Batman when he couldn't even get Daredevil right is baffling.

This movie was SO DAMN BAD. Just awful.

Pattinson will do fin.e If you've seen his work the last few years, there is little reason to doubt him.

I can both give Pattinson a chance and make fun of his time as a glittery Dracula. It's called multitasking.
