The Dark Knight Rises is an upcoming superhero film directed by Christopher Nolan, who co-wrote the screenplay with his brother Jonathan Nolan and the story with David S. Goyer. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film will be the third installment in Nolan's Batman film series, and is a sequel to Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008). The Dark Knight Rises is intended to be the conclusion of the series. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman will all reprise their roles from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. The film will take place eight years after the events of The Dark Knight and will introduce the characters of Selina Kyle and Bane portrayed by Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy, respectively two villains from the Batman mythology.

Nolan was initially hesitant about returning to the series for a second time, but agreed to come back after developing a story with his brother Jonathan and David S. Goyer that he felt would conclude the series on a satisfactory note. The film has inspirations in the Batman comic book series Knightfall (1993), which debuted the villain Bane; The Dark Knight Returns (1986), in which Batman returns to Gotham City after a ten year absence; and No Man's Land (1999), which depicts Gotham being overrun by gangs.

Filming took place in various locations, including locations in India, London, Nottingham, Glasgow, Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, and Pittsburgh. Nolan utilized IMAX cameras for much of the filming to optimize the quality of the picture. As with The Dark Knight, viral marketing campaigns began early during production to help promote the upcoming film. When filming concluded, Warner Bros. refocused its campaign; developing promotional websites, releasing the first six minutes of the film and theatrical trailers, and sending random pieces of information regarding the film's plot to various companies. The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for release in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada on July 20, 2012.

Haha Bane has swagger. This movie is going to be so much win. Why does everyone want to destroy Gotham? What did that city ever do?

some pretty interesting things pointed out.

i think the catwoman scene at 1:15 is probably when she witnesses the fight between batman and bane in that cave or tunnel, whatever it is.

i like the assumption that maybe jgl's character might have been a orphan boy. also, how come jgl's character is talking to Selina Kyle? maybe he and Selina grew up together as orphans?

i think that bane does know that bruce is batman, he does break his masks so we can assume he saw his face.

i really cant tell but does it seem to anyone like some images of bruce resembles a young bruce from bb? can they really be adding some flash backs from then? a lot of speculations and no answers yet. love it!

come on guys lets keep the guessing. use your detective batman skills.

Is it possible that Christopher Judge is playing Bane? Just in one particular scene since there was the "issue" of THardy's size to play Bane.

I love these guys. They pointed out a few things i didn't even notice like the School For Boys on the side of the bus and the missles firing at The Bat. The one things I love about the marketing for this film is the way that they can give us so much and yet not give us anything, if you know what I mean.I still can't figure out the timeline for this film and how these scene fit together. They're doing an awesome job at making sure we barely know anything going into this and i really like that. Even after all the "spoilers" we've read I don't think any of us still know what we're going to see on Jully 20, 2012.

Are they talking about Gordon in the scene where JGL asks Selena if they killed 'him'? Interior seems rather hospital-like but I could be making something out of nothing.

@Sunny1993S - I believe when Blake asks, "did they kill him?" and Selina replies, "I'm not sure" they are talking about Batman or Bruce Wayne. Yes they look to be in a hospital from what we can figure. Blake is probably protecting Gordon. From what i can figure is that Selina witnesses Batman's defeat by Bane or something and bane somehow does something to her to make her dislike him so she runs and turns herself in, but in exchange for her freedom she will help the police capture Bane. However, i belive she runs away before she knows what truly happens to Bruce, which is when Bane places him in the prison for part of the movie, instead of killing him. Just my thoughts.
