Alec Baldwin Says That He Is No Longer Playing Thomas Wayne In Todd Philips' JOKER Movie

Just a couple of days ago, it was reported that Alec Baldwin had joined the cast of Todd Philips' Joker as Bruce Wayne's father, but the actor now says that he's dropped out of the role. Check it out...

This past Monday, the trades reported that Alec Baldwin had been cast in the upcoming Joker origin movie as "a cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump" take on Thomas Wayne, but it seems that's no longer the case.

Baldwin first sent out the following Tweet, implying that the reports of his character being Trump-like were inaccurate.

However, he then clarified to USA Today that he had actually parted ways with the production altogether, citing "scheduling issues."

"I'm no longer doing that movie," the Mission: Impossible - Fallout actor told the site. "I'm sure there are 25 guys who can play that part."

It's difficult to know whether Baldwin had already dropped out before the trade reports came in or if it only happened afterwards, but either way, it's a shame he won't be part of the film.

Joker will star Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime, with Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz and Marc Maron all on board for supporting roles.

It doesn't sound like he dropped out per the writer... sounds like he was never on board. People making up articles based on bad rumors.

@JonC - the quote right under his Twitter post says otherwise. It says "I'm no longer doing that movie"

I didn’t really want him doing a cheesy Trump version of Thomas Wayne. With this being the first movie showing a back story of Thomas, I want it to be good. I always wanted Denis Leary for Thomas Wayne

The "Alec Baldwin" part was sort of the only part of that story I liked.

If they end up doing a Trump-inspired Thomas Wayne played by someone else, I'm not exactly relieved, here.

Its the result of when your writing income is based on rumor and not fact... Baldwin clearly says he has not be hired for the role... like ever.

@DirkLargepeck - just use the de-aging technology on him, and if it looks a little unnatural, who cares? He’s supposed to be supernatural.

regardless, surprised it took so long for this to get up on here, it was in the Wrap's daily email this morning.

Solid daily newsround up for any of you all who follow the industry a bit outside of CBM's

@JoeMomma29 - Normally it just seems like someone here is on top of it faster than this, that's all!

Also I would try doing that but I have trouble not allowing newsfeeds to eat up my time, so I pretty much only let myself use facebook, where I primarily go through my feed just to follow the trades.

@ftf530 - I am personally not really glued to my phone but I do get alerts from Twitter on CBM news and other things related to comic books. Here you have to wait a while to get your news.
