THE BATMAN Blu-ray Will Include Only Two Deleted Scenes With The Joker And A New Catwoman/Penguin Exchange

While the full list of special features for The Batman was revealed yesterday, we didn't get any specific details about deleted scenes. We know the ones on the disc will have commentary from director Matt Reeves, but Collider has now revealed that there will only be two additional scenes included.

We've seen one of them, of course; the lengthy exchange between Batman and The Joker in Arkham State Hospital. Even though that was recently shared online by Reeves, we are excited to hear from the filmmaker and get some behind the scenes details on how this sequence was put together.

The site goes on to say that the second scene will be around 90 seconds long, focusing on Catwoman and The Penguin. That meeting takes place at the 44 Below Club, Oswald Cobblepot's secret club hidden beneath the Iceberg Lounge. It's unclear whether Selina Kyle is suited up as Catwoman here, but when we first met the cat burglar, she was working undercover as a waitress.

Considering there were rumblings about a four-hour assembly cut of The Batman, it's a little disappointing to hear that we're only getting two deleted scenes totalling six minutes. There's always a chance we'll see more down the line, of course, but this is clearly going to be it for now.

The Batman is set to be released on Digital on April 18 and on HBO Max on April 19. It will then hit DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Blu-ray on May 24. Check out our interviews with the cast and crew below:

Man they really don’t want people to buy Blu-ray’s/4K anymore. Most of the time the reason I bought them was for all the extras. You could sit for hours watching them. Now it feels like a rip off.

@MoonClunge - HBO Max does sometimes, but as far as I know only Criterion Channel does it consistently.

I really liked this movie. I need a 2nd or 3rd watching to determine if i liked it more than TDK, but at least this gave us a detective Batman. Can't wait for the 4k

I buy physical for the awesome steelbook designs. Sure the extras have diminished over time, for the big tentpole movies but other blu rays for indie movies and 4k transfers of classics are loaded with new extras

I definitely think we need to see more Bruce Wayne in the sequel. I love how much Batman we actually saw in The Batman, but the next one needs to show how important his Bruce Wayne mask can be.

I haven’t bought a physical disc in some years but the lack of special features on newer releases has me worried. I know streaming is the future but they can at least make featurettes and add deleted scenes onto the streaming service just to give movie fans a little something. I know Disney+ does this with some titles and I think other platforms should do something similar.
