By now everyone has seen has seen the trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises." Frankly, most fans just want to fast forward to the release date of the film, as I know I do! The title indicates that this film will be an allegory, and I will explain why I believe this giving a few examples from what little we've seen thus far.

The film looks like it will be gorgeous in my opinion. The shots that we've been teased with show great vision. One thing I couldn't help but notice is that Wally Pfister and Chris Nolan have chosen to depict quite a few scenes from a vertically enhancing point of view. An example of this is the scene when the man jumps out of the window in trailer two, or when the men rappel down the hole. Also, if you have seen the (SPOILER AHEAD) prologue, when (HERE IT IS) the plane is being over taken by Bane and co., and the C-130 has inverted the smaller vessel. Everything taking place inside the plane deals with lowering and raising. For example, Bane dropping down on the seats to confront his foe. Or while Bane raises up, and then lowers body bag (with help). The aforementioned is also magnificent foreshadowing, as the body bag symbolizes death, as Bane would bring moments later. I think this scene generally shows what the movie is going to be about, that it will deal with contrast greatly. Furthermore, it shows that Batman will be dealing with someone who destroys everything under him through calculation that has end results with little efforts on his part; the click of a button to be exact.

Two other subtle examples, but noticeable occur in the trailer also. When the camera is looking down on Bruce, he is on his back, then a quick cut to Bane shows him above Bruce, symbolic of his position of inferiority. I like what is implied here, that Bruce is the underdog. Moments later however, We see Bane rising up the stairs in the same trailer, to face Batman. When they clash, the epic music plays, and Bane is on equal level with Batman, both fighting for their ideals.

In all, I think this film will be less spoon-fed than its predecessor. I believe that Nolan and Pfister will choose to speak to us through imagery. As you can tell, I am excited to see this film, and hope that you are ready for this action packed superhero summer as well!

Cheers!
