BLACK ADAM Star Dwayne Johnson Explains How The Movie's Big Cameo Came About - SPOILERS

We know this isn't really a spoiler at this stage, but we're being careful just in case! During a new interview, Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson revealed how they managed to land that big cameo...

Black Adam hits theaters today, and despite mixed reviews, is expected to have a very respectable opening weekend at the box office. One thing DC fans are very excited about is the return of a certain character, who shows up in the movie's post-credits scene.

This has been out there for a while, but just in case, major spoilers ahead.

Not even Warner Bros.' marketing team are attempting to keep this under wraps anymore (see below), but yes, Henry Cavill reprises the role of Superman for a face-off with Dwayne Johnson's Man in Black.

The scene begins with Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) telling Adam that she won't interfere in his business as long as he remains in Kahndaq. Teth warns her that there's "nobody on this planet that can stop him," to which Waller responds that she has allies "from other planets" that can keep him in line.

Adam tells her to "send them all," and the Man of Steel makes his presence felt.

We had heard conflicting reports about Cavill's DCEU return, and recently learned that Johnson was actually integral to convincing the studio's new leadership (it seems the old guard wasn't particularly interested) to bring him back to the fold.

During an interview with Collider, Johnson explained how the Man of Steel's cameo came about.

"It got to a point where collectively, I want to say myself, Danny and Hiram (Garcia), we said, 'Here's how the movie should end. And I'll give you one further, test it, and if it doesn't work, we'll never talk about it again. Test it.' We shot it, to their credit, new leadership. They saw it and said, 'We don't even have to test it.'"

Superman's return obviously sets-up a major confrontation with Black Adam down the line, but WBD is also said to be working on another solo movie featuring the character.

Have you guys been to see Black Adam yet? If so, what did you make of the post-credits scene? Drop us a comment down below.

These super heroes who can’t be hurt get boring to watch. The movie was okay, lots of action, but meh 🫤

I actually really enjoyed this movie more than I thought. It wasn’t a movie about Dwayne Johnson ego like I thought. He actually plays a very dour role. I really liked the JSA, I really didn’t think I would but they all got a chance to shine. The Superman cameo in the credits was awesome and very well handled. I want to see Superman and Shazam vs Black Adam.

@JonAwesome - If all three were to join they definitely need a bigger badder vilian to fight than a test your might grudge match. Cause Shazam is bringing family.

@DoubleD - Rotten Tomatoes has absolutely ruined the film industry. It rewards middle of the road movies that get mild positive reactions from everyone, as opposed to films that evoke extreme reactions (like one should). It discourages taking a risk, even considering alienating part of the audience. Even within the industry, it's all anyone gives a shit about. Not that I think Black Adam is good (it looks stupid fun, a solid streaming watch).

@BestAtWhatIDo - no, it hasn’t it. What ruined the industry is studios making mediocre movies.

@TheSuperMex - ... which they're doing to get high RottenTomatoes scores.

@BestAtWhatIDo - I'll tell you what's ruined the film industry.

It's us.

Everyone here has a very unenthusiastic 'meh' for Black Adam and yet we've all bought tickets.
WE are the problem.

Some of us are another problem, thank you very much.

@ObserverIO - I agree, fans rewarding mediocrity and incoherence and "demanding" that a movie somehow perfectly translate a comic, which is a vastly different medium, is definitely a problem. It's also what we're NOT buying tickets to: anything not based on IP.

@BestAtWhatIDo - I was done with comic book movies after Spider-Man: No Way Home. Were the nods to the fandom fun? Sure. Was the movie at all successfully as an individual piece of storytelling? No. And it made so much money, that it's basically become the rubric for every blockbuster since.

Black Adam may end up pointing the way to an exciting future for DC films, but as a standalone experience, it's a wildly uneven letdown.

This cameo is the marketing for the whole film at this point. He’s spoiling it lol. If this was Tom Holland they would’ve told him to stfu

Superman is marketing this movie and that was always the plan with that cameo.

I haven't seen Black Adam but it's actually raising some interesting chatter online. The kind of comments from people who see CBMs as cgi-fests and superheroes as action stars and say 'why did anyone expect anything else'. Makes me think that there are different veins of fandom in this genre. To me, Peter Parker is infinitely more interesting than Spider-Man. If you know what i mean.

@TheManWithoutFear - I’ve seen similar which is very telling. Pretty much to expect the banality of these movies. There’s complex underpinnings to Black Adam being a slave or the son of a Pharaoh (depending on the origin you want), a violent dictator, a definitive villain. The stuff that makes up Black Adam underneath A few reviews I read say the film isn’t too interested in things like that, but more so being a beat ‘em up video game.

“Peter Parker is infinitely more interesting than Spider-Man.”

@GhostDog - "Leave your brain at the door" excuses incoming.

The door is where you need your brain the most. Listen to your brain before you get anywhere near the box office. It's telling you to stop and either select a good movie or turn around and leave. It's trying to save you!
