BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Passes $400 Million At The Domestic Box Office

The latest box office updates place Marvel Studios' Black Panther: Wakanda Forever just past the $400 million mark, but with Avatar: The Way of Water looming, that might be about it for the Phase 4 sequel.

After claiming the #1 spot for five weeks in a row, Ryan Coogler's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has officially passed the $400 million mark at the domestic box office.

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios' final Phase 4 theatrical release took in about $11 million over the past couple of days for a running cume of $401.55M. Its global total is approaching $750M.

Can it possibly hope to match its predecessor's mighty $1 billion+ haul? At this stage it seems highly unlikely, especially with James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water expected to dominate the box office when it releases next week. $825M - $850M seems like a far more realistic outcome - which is certainly nothing to scoff at.

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livanalli.
