The former BET President of Entertainment and comic writer Reginald Hudlin talked to NEWSARAMA about the past and future of a Black Panther adaption:

On Why Marvel Knights Animation: Black Panther Never Aired:

"By the time it went into production, I had left (BET) and wound up producing the project. When the show was completed, the network had changed direction and gone in a much different direction programming-wise, going for an older, more female audience," said Hudlin on why the Black Panther animation series never aired.

On Why A Black Panther Movie Starring Wesley Snipes Never Got Off The Ground:

"I've danced with it several times through the years. After I did my first film, House Party, and I had a deal with Sony Pictures. We had talked about doing it. When I had a deal with Tri-Star, the rights (to the Panther film) were at Columbia."

"Either way, it never happened. And then the rights were tied up with Wesley Snipes, and he had his own vision about what he wanted to do. Then he ended up doing Blade films," said Hudlin.

On The Future Of A Black Panther Movie:

"Ultimately, Marvel controls the movie rights. They're going to make their decision.

I'm just glad that by writing the comic book and doing the animated series, I at least gave the world my vision of who T'Challa is and what the Black Panther is,"
said Hudlin.

It isn't animation you quack, it's a motion comic. The art is John Romita Jr. Learn the information.

the biggest mistake about Black Panther tv show is that BET and Reginald Hudlin was involved. the show should of been on cartoon network. the motion comic style was sort of off putting the story for the show was good but the animation was kind of a hit or miss.

@LEEE777

i say Chiwetel Ejiofor for Black Panther u seen Serenity and Redbelt the guy has a cool fight scenes in them movies. them fight scenes feel like what Black Panther would do.

I think They should find a new actor for Black Panther. There are more then 3 black actors. Chiwetel Ejiofor... not intimidating. The guy in the picture above... isn't carismatic, likeable enough to carry his own movie... plus hes to old and to fat now and Djimon Hounsou was perfect but he is kinda old to. We need some fresh blood, oh and it can't be a fake african accent lol so no Wesley Snipes whos also to old and in prison.

Black Panther is not intimidating like some like Luke Cage who ment to be intimidating. Black Panther is royalty but he can kick people ass so Chiwetel Ejiofor would be perfect as the character.

@weneedrevelation

Nowhere in that Wikipedia entry does it state it was done in a motion comic style to save cost in production. Did you even read the entry before posting?

I don't like how he says "I gave the world my vision of who Black Panther is." Well, how about you let the people who actually made the character decide who he is.

The Black Panther was always the right mix of nobility and bad ass. He is still one of my favorites and I hope to see him on the big screen soon.

@weneedrevelation: Your correct in that BET has taken alot of criticism for their programming and quality of shows. It started with a noble goal of giving the African American community a network of their own, and is now little more then a joke.
